I do not like rooting for the Rangers.
I always wondered why we didn't give him a chance pitching. He's a lefty who had a pretty outstanding college career as a pitcher and as far as I can tell this was his first inning pitched in professional baseball. Doesn't look like he can hit MLB pitching, but he could be a nice lefty specialist and emergency PH.Weekend Commuter said:

I don't think they are trying to make a run at the Wild Card. They pretty much set the market for starting pitching and took one of the top players off the board in the process. Syndergaard's value rose and they didn't give up a top 100 prospect for him.
Ultimately, they can keep Wheeler and Stroman long term for less average AAV than Syndergaard and reap the reward of trading away the top pitcher on the market either by Wednesday or in the offseason. The market they set is that Stroman with 1 more year of control is worth 2 borderline top 100 prospects, so the expectation should be a top 25 type prospect and another top 100/borderline prospect as headliners for Syndergaard with 2 years of control.

Honestly I think we could go for a guy like Robby ray and a bullpen arm. Our bullpen is shaky in pressure situations and we need a consistent arm.

Looking at this I'm not sure who is dumber. The Mets for trading for a piece they absolutely have no need of or the Jays who basically gave Stroman away. Seriously. Two arms, one A and one AA. This deal looks like something you would see in fantasy baseball that is so stupid that you would think there is something under the table and a commissioner would step in and negate.
