Well here comes Oakland. 10-0 run against Detroit, Seattle, Cleveland and now the Angels. Must be nice to play bad teams. They could be 5-6 back by the time we get to play them Friday.

How defeating to go on a 10-0 run and still be 7 games back in May

This is correct. He went 1-4 with a single

Isn't that the same group of teams we had a 10 game winning streak against?

We played them and took care of business. OAK is playing them and taking care of business.

We've played plenty of bad teams this far.

Wrong...they gave the stat on the Saturday night Fox game against Boston the the Twins have played 38 games, the Yankees 35 games and the Astros only 15 games against teams with sub .500 records so far this year.

The Stros have played a pretty tough schedule so far this year.

This site also ranks remaining strength of schedule.

Same teams ranked easiest to hardest:

Twins - #1
Astros - #2
Indians - #4
Rays - #5
Red Sox - #10
Yankees - #13
Athletics - #18

Outside of Boston, NY and Oakland, its all pretty close from here on out.

So what you're saying is we're going to hit 108 when we bring up TED and get healthy.

So the twins have had an easy schedule so far and the easiest from here on out? That doesn't seem fair.

Makes sense as they are in by far the worst division in MLB.

They get the NL east too. Marlins are ridiculously bad and the Nats suck too.

Yep.. Their second half schedule has some rediculous stretches of Tigers, WhiteSox, Marlins, and KC. Unless they fall off, it will be a dogfight with them for the #1 seed based on their schedule alone.

Astros can't complain. The AL East is the division you don't want to be in right now.

Going forward it won't be too bad, but our schedule so far:

1. MIN: 2 of 2 series complete
2. NYY: 1 of 2 series complete
3. TB: 1 of 2 series complete
4. BOS: 2 of 2 series complete
5. CLE: 1 of 2 series complete

So we have completed 7/10 series against the toughest teams in the AL (depending on how you want to rank CLE/OAK). Can't complain much going forward, but damn that was a little brutal looking back. Not to mention we are playing one of the top NL teams right now as well.

no doubt the 'stros' schedule was front-loaded.

but starting with the 4-gamer vs. the Mariners next week...it looks very friendly thru the all-star break.

Orioles, Reds, Pirates, Blue Jays, Angels, and the Mariners again.

(with a series to New York mixed in)

Cole has that ERA at 4.32 and we are now a full 2 months into the season. I'm glad we extended Verlander in the off-season instead of giving Cole a fat deal. White takes a lot of grief on here, but Cole has been far more disappointing this year as he was expected to be an all-star and ace.
He's also leading the league in Ks. Yeah, he's had a couple of bad outings, but looks like he'll have another quality start today.

Some of you really need to take a breather before posting after every negative thing you see. Most teams would kill to have a number 2 like Cole.
Cole obviously had a good start yesterday after a rough 1st inning and I agree that most would like to have him as a #2 but with 4.02 ERA after 1/3 of the season that status is based on his potential to be awesome not his performance so far this year. I hope he performs like an ace the rest of the way. His biggest problem is the 6.75 ERA in the 1st inning this year. It is his worst inning by the numbers. That should be correctable.

I would think that most of that is that one horrendous outing in Arlington.

I expect it will normalize once it gets diluted.

Its bad luck.

FIP 2.92 (qualified) - 6th in baseball
xFIP 2.23 (qualified) - 1st in baseball
xwOBA .264 (min 150 PA) - 7th in baseball

He'll regress to the mean and be awesome the next 2/3.
