Keuchel is really doing himself some harm. He's not the same pitcher he was in 2015. But he's damn good, and plenty of the offers he's received have been on that level.

Chalk it up to another Scott boras special.

I wonder how much more enjoyable baseball would be without both Angel Hernndez and Boras
+1 for Joe West, too.

I was really surprised after we offered Keuchel another deal here a week or so ago that he didn't bite, or have any kind of reported interest, this late in the season.

Hinch should do the same...
I had this exact conversation with someone in the Astros organization. The response was that we would rather have the players playing Fortnite than hitting the bars after games.
What do you boys want for breakfast BBQ ?.....OK Chili.

Dude is worth every penny too. Glad to see he's staying with the Angels and he seems to have his head on straight as well.

Even for $100mm more, I think there's a much better chance of the Trout deal working out for Anaheim than the Harper deal working out for Philly.

System could use some tweaks but it's not entirely broken. Despite all the crying, the best players still get paid. Trout is the best. He got paid.

Makes me incredibly nervous about bregman if he continues on this path

I hope Crane proves my nerves invalid

love seeing the Angels spend so much money on one player --- that has shown to work so well in baseball...or not

yes, the front office is going to have to play things carefully with Bregman and Correa (or choose wisely). Too many big money long-term contracts can send the franchise into a tailspin. We have seen that movie before

I think Trout is the best player in baseball, however the Angels would have put themselves in a better position to trade Trout than to pay him $430 million. From an Astros perspective, I love it.

Adidas has really locked down the Houston teams. Bregs, Harden, D Hop are all Adidas and I think there are a few more I am forgetting.

That was a really fun stat to cherry pick... they really need bats around him considering he led the league in walks and intentional walks. Once they get a few of the bad deals off the books they'll bounce back, I mean they have 12 years.... and he's only 27.

Thanks for further strengthening the argument that RBI is maybe the worst stat in all of baseball.

Mike Trout has 15 postseason ABs. Jose Altuve has 131. If Altuve retires today & Trout plays out the 12 year contract, who has more postseason ABs for their career?

No it's like the emblem that goes on the chest of the Nike or UA polos. It's raised a bit off the surface of the hat but it's not a patch.

That is at least somewhat ironic that the angels have locked up these mega long term deals.

This one I think is a good deal for them in multiple avenues. Alberts deal was just absurd on almost every front. Funny it was the same team though and not dodgers, red Sox's, Yankees etc

It's an interesting game.

If our current crop of headliner prospects pans out (Tucker, Whitley, James, etc), it's hard to imagine them winning the AL West in the next ~10 years. Maybe in an upside year they could sneak into the race a couple times like the A's did last year. Boston or New York will occupy one wild card spot for the foreseeable future. Seems the Angels will likely battle it out for the second wild card for a while.

A deep run into the playoffs is usually worth ~50 ABs. So Trout would need three deep runs to pass Altuve (or one deep run with ~four first round exits).

Answer: I'll take under 131.

Also, who will end up with more postseason ABs: Bregman (96 in two seasons) or Jeter (650)?

Jeter. He's by far #1. 2nd place is almost 200 ABs behind him.
