Marwin has no one to blame but Boras.
Taking a long time to receive offers is not a bad strategy, that usually will get you the best return. Boras is notorious for this.
But he over estimated Marwins value badly, and he could have either stayed with the Stros or had better offers early in which he turned down.
It is Boras's job to understand the market, even if it is a changing market.
Like you said, Boras is notorious for this, that's the expectation when you hire Boras, and more often than not it works out or he wouldn't be the agent to so many prominent players. If Marwin wanted to stay with the Astros, chase another ring and still be handsomely paid (just as well he's going to get paid to battle for the wild card for the Twins, it turns out), he could have hired any agent.
Everyone loves to hate on Boras, but no one forced Marwin to hire him at gunpoint. Best of luck in every game other than against us & thanks for the memories but the truth is, Marwin has no one to blame but himself.
