That tells me that our FO agreed with many on this board that 2017 was the outlier and unlikely to happen again.

I'm going to miss him, but my god... all the dumb Facebook comments talking about how they are disappointed in the front office for not resigning him. I guess they don't realize we have 2 players (Brantley & Diaz) that made it to where Marwin was not needed, especially for $10+ million a year.

You could've just said "Facebook comments" and the dumb part would've already been assumed.

I loved Marwin's contributions; especially when he was on a hot streak b/c he would deliver clutch hit after clutch hit....but adding a true LF in Brantley was a huge boost that was needed.

There are things to arguably go after the FO for this offseason (...and believe me, I'm sure in the middle of the season I'll be irrationally picking at them when they drop a single game in a series in June against some cellar dweller while acting like I knew it all along! :-D ), but letting Marwin go when his price tag was $10.5/season isn't one of them.

I'm far more concerned about Catcher, the 3-5 spots in the rotation and counting on 2nd half Tyler White of 2018 being the rule as opposed to the exception in terms of being your every day DH. Now, if Chirinos has an OPS of around .900, Miley leads a stout back end of the rotation with some combination of Whitley/James/McHugh/Framber and White is thundering in the middle of the lineup....then; I doubt anyone will be complaining about the lack of Marwin.

(...unless they have a bad trip to Detroit or something like that and then I'm sure I'll boil over on here and it will be completely justified)

I think the front office did a good job replacing his numbers with cheaper guys. The question is can they be anywhere near as clutch as Marwin? He was the guy that just seemed to battle when you really needed it.

Should have paid Marwin to stay. Tells me we are still in hunt for Harper.
