Mets fans don't like the trade which means I'm a fan of the trade

That trade seems to make no sense for the Mets

good job by Luhnow...getting somebody to take J.D. Davis.

glad I won't have to watch those AB's again in 2019

and regarding the Yankees...we want the same script as last year.

let Boston or NYY win the division...and the other get the wildcard...and they face off in the ALDS.

we'll take the AL Central champ again

Reloading the farm system by getting rid of a AAAA player that is blocked at his position

I think at least one of our AAAA guys is going to succeed when given the chance. I'd bet on Davis over Reed & Fisher simply because a consistently very high batting average like he has had, even though not a sure indicator, seems to be at least the strongest indicator of MLB success.

Plenty of guys that hit .260 to .280 with power even at AAA just can't ever hit major league pitching. Davis (like White) hit for very high average with power and had a .400 OBP @ AAA.

I like Davis to end up being an equal or better player to Colin Moran. I know he was blocked here and now that David Wright is officially toast that's a great landing spot for him. I haven't looked at them yet, but hope the guys we got for him are decent.

It's a good trade for both sides, but people are sleeping on JD Davis. He wasn't going to get a chance here, but I think he's going to be a solid major leaguer.

Why is it a good trade on their sides? Davis has looked terrible in the bigs ( limited ABs) and he'll he 26 next year. The odds he turns into an everyday player are very slim.

Even if everything you said is right, that still doesn't necessarily make it a bad trade for them. The odds of even the more talented guys in A ball ever even making it to the majors are very slim. A guy who kills AAA pitching, already has a couple of years getting his feet wet in the majors and is in line for a lot of major league ABs this year has a solid shot of contributing. He may never become an everyday player, but if he makes any sort of positive impact at all for the Mets, it might end up being a net win for them.

Davis was blocked here, so the lottery tickets we get in return are a better value than a guy who was probably never going to get a shot.

I predict that barring injury, JD will have a comparable or better season than Colin Moran did in 2018: (.277/.340/.407) 11 HR 58 RBI 1.0 WAR.

I still think it's a good trade for the Astros because he wouldn't have gotten the ABs here, but Farmer if you want to put your money where your mouth is I'm happy to bet you a Kyle Tucker jersey on that.

I'll be in charge of questioning why tony kemp isn't in the lineup...well because i do it every time the guy isn't in the lineup. I lost my mind when he didn't make the roster last year out of spring training so I'll just keep running with that.

Give me a lineup with our best hitters and kemp in the 8 or 9 hole. Toughest AB on the team outside of Bregman.

Don't like his arm? put him in left field permanently..done.
Don't like his path to the baseball? Screw you it could be Biggio or Carlos Lee out there.

Think he's an attention *****e? I don't like you if you have that opinion

I love Tony, but...

I'm a big kemp guy. Look at how badly Tucker is missing that pitch in the second pic. Solid foot minimum.

I could be wrong but I think that picture of Tucker is after contact with the ball

Either that or that's just after contact and it's off the very end of the bat and it's a weak rollover groundball to 2B.

Either one is completely within the realm of possibility.

I completely agree about Kemp. Dude is a scrappy player that has a knack for coming up in big moments. And dead on statement about having the best AB's alongside Bregs
W

if Kemp makes the opening day roster...that means either Tucker or Jake does not.

(unless the 'stros carry 6 outfielders)
Farmer1906
How long do you want to ignore this user?

I don't think Jake has a role on this team anymore. Sure he can be a "CF closer" but I think it must more valuable to have more guys that can hit. Between the starting 3, Kemp, & Tucker you might have 5 above average hitting outfielders.

With Kemp, you get a little extra offense in terms of average and OBP, but you sacrifice power and defense. I love what he adds to the lineup, but I like what Jake brings defensively. Preventing runs is just as important as creating them. I'm not sure who I'd give the edge to.

Power or not Kemp was about 70 points higher with his OPS last year. You can't have a sub 700 OPS and K 36% of the time no matter how good your defense is.
