Smith will still have a lot of value. FVV, I am not as sure about. He is a win-now kind of player, but so many teams that are in win-now mode don't need him. The only thing he could be is a player picked up to dump off bad salary, but I think teams are much less willing to take on bad salary going forward.EaDoAg said:
Trade FVV and Smith let Sheppard take FVV minutes.
Most 2nd apron teams couldn't feasibly trade for FVV due to the new trade rules.
I think Orlando could use FVV and he would fit well on that team, but they don't really have good contracts to trade and their recently extended players can't be traded just like Green and Sengun can't be traded.
If Milwaukee can get their picks back and want to tank, they could do a Dame for FVV trade. Dame would be an upgrade offensively, but would Houston want his next two years of contract (~2y112MM after this season)?
The big idea this summer was getting the PHX picks to trade for Booker or Durant when Phoenix fell apart, but Durant is hurt and Phoenix has played great so far. Despite being a 2nd apron team, PHX could trade Durant or Booker for FVV+picks.
If Houston wanted LaVine, I bet Chicago would do LaVine + 1st for FVV, but then you have the LaVine+Green logjam at SG. LaVine has 2y95M left after this season. Kind of like Dame, adds a high level scorer, but kills your cap the next two years.
If you really wanted someone on the Nets, you could work something out with them and Ben Simmons ending contract, but I don't really like anyone there that much. I would rather have Tari Eason than Cam Johnson and I think Cam Thomas is a bad team shot chucker.
Wizards could do Kuzma+Brogdon, but I think they think Kuz has more value than he does and I wouldn't add anything for them. They also are tanking, so no real reason to have FVV.
Timberwolves could definitely use him, but they can't actually trade for him due to 2nd apron rules.
Maybe if injuries strike, a team might want FVV for a rental, but I don't think the trade market would be super hot because the 40M+ contracts are hard to trade, especially with so many of the contending teams either being locked by trade rules, hard caps, or don't have the contracts to move.
Hard to speculate on Jabari, because I think with him being on a rookie contract and still having a lot of promise, there is still a lot of value, and any team could make him fit in a trade pretty easily because of the rookie scale deal. If teams didn't use their exception, he could fit into that as well, because you can now trade players into an exception.
