We said the same thing about Harden and Westbrook.

Hope the Nets see the same results.
Difference is Kyrie can hit a three (43% this year) so teams can't just ignore him and let him have the ball and shoot at will from 16 feet and beyond.

So Kevin Durant either doesn't have the ear of the Nets owner or he's a colossal idiot who hasn't been paying attention to Harden's relationship with Dwight Howard, Chris Paul, and Russell Westbrook over the past several years.

I see your point but would add two things:

1. KD absolutely signed off on this trade
2. KD is MUCH better than Dwight, Russ or CP3
my point is that Harden is toxic to play with if you're a star.

What's the state tax of NY on 40 mil?
If you assume his home salary is $20 million, he'll go from paying $0 in state income in Texas to $1.764 million in New York. Then another $775,200 for working in NYC.

I agree with what you're saying but winning fixes a lot of Problems and KD is a much better player.

Just happy it's over and now we can all move on. Yes, they will struggle but the future looks much brighter and a lot more flexible now.

Pretty sure their strip clubs are closed so I'm sure it all evens out.

I fully admit being wrong on this one, but the way Cousins has handled himself through this mess is actually making me like him.

Do Rockets have to swap? Or is it optional? (Such as this year when ours will prob be top 10 and Brooklyn is picking later)

I love Tucker, but he deserves to be on an Finals bound team. Would absolutely be excited for him if he got a ring.

It's behind a paywall on ESPN+ so won't post but FWIW, Kevin Pelton graded the picks as a "D" for Brooklyn and an "A-" for Houston.

So... who's good in this year's draft?

That we can pick up around the 20th pick?

It's risky for the Nets because if it doesn't work, they'll be left with absolutely nothing.

Per ESPN, Oladipo is not a RFA after this year. He is a UFA. He can walk for nothing.

Seems like several people think he is RFA and contract offer can be matched.

Just like the Rockets had nothing after using all draft capital for Harden.

Mets still have three All-NBA players in their prime. They will get assets

I think the only RFAs in the NBA are rookie contracts

We potentially have 2 first rounders, right? Detroit's (protected to 16th) and Blazers (protected to 14th). Our own pick is with OKC, does it have any protections?

Harden is definitely in prime condition.

So it'll probably end up with us getting the better of the blazers or nets pick

We get the worst pick between ours and Miami unless it's top 4

So barring a complete tank, we're basically relying on the Detroit/Blazers picks?

I don't know all the rules. Just trying to clear up some seemingly incorrect discussions around Oladipo being a RFA. Since he is not, his value in the trade is not as high as it would be if he was under semi-control next year.

Don't forget, they could put together a couple of those "20's" to potentially move down to the top 10 for someone they like.

Wouldn't mind seeing PJ on an East contender. He is still a solid defender.

Just catching up on this trade but, like most others here, I agree this was as good as the Rockets could hope for under the current circumstances. Getting this many draft picks was the best way to go, but drafting in the NBA is such a crapshoot.

The last draft pick the Rockets have made that contributed anything is Clint Capela from 2014. I watched those years where we had multiple draft picks (around 2012) and was sold on all of them and none have ever done anything. The best one was probably Chandler Parsons in the 2nd round until he left after 3 years. The Rockets success over the years was due to Morey being good at trades (and some FAs) but his drafts were not that good.

Again, this was the best option Stone had but he has to make the right picks in the coming years and that's not easy in the NBA.

Looking forward to the dissension on the nets.

If there's any year to tank, it's this year. Supposedly it's a deep and talented draft year, plus there are no fans in the stands. Trot out a crappy team, won't affect ticket sales. TV money is guaranteed. Let's burn it all down and see what it can get us for next year.

I'm glad James is gone, the relationship was clearly beyond repair. I guess we shouldn't be surprised by how he handled things on the way out the door but it was a pathetic display. There were plenty of ways to leave without acting in the manner he did and it just goes to show how immature James is.

I likely stuck with James too long and kept thinking he was going to turn the corner. Finding new ways to fail in the playoffs every year just shows that he couldn't be the guy and needed to take the easy way out.

The franchise could go in a lot of different directions right now hopefully the new management turns these assets into a winner and Tillman doesn't screw it up.
