I agree with you. I think the money for the buyout is the issue. TA has talked about money issues with the coming of profit sharing in July.

The ghost of Jimbo haunts us.

Not paying the buyout in non-revenue sports was going on before Jimbo's firing - Childress, Evans, & Blair. You'd need someone to foot the bill for getting rid of G.

G has too big of an ego to step aside.

TA is not responsible for giving G the extension and shouldn't be on the hook to buy out a bad contract. He also was not involved with the Jimbo mess that created our financial situation. So, stop whining about it. It is what it is. We will have to suffer through another bad season.

But, I will still be there next year rooting for whoever dons the Maroon and White. And I know you will be too.

This! The selfishness is what irks me the most. The man single handily built a soccer program here from the bottom up with much success. Why watch the empire you built crumble into ashes and not only stray far from elite, but further from mediocrity. Why sink this even further, why create more angst among your fan base and loyal supporters. If you care about this program, you should always do what's best for the program, even if that means stepping away. Don't let your stubbornness and pride sacrifice all you've done for this program.

But we should have seen this coming, we all hear how cocky and arrogant he is every August. He will never take any accountability for a loss, he'll blame the girls or blame the refs. He should've have stepped away already, but he's too prideful for that and the Texas A&M Soccer program will pay the price. It's the harsh reality.

How many will give up their season tickets though? I know our group is pondering that.

Attendance is down, who would want to give a dime to NIL or anything else to a program that's burned to the ground.

The budget the AD has, this buyout is a rounding error. It tells me he doesn't give a **** about non rev sports. So if the AD doesn't care, why should anyone else

Whether we want to acknowledge it or not, there is this big event, perhaps the biggest single one time event ever in college athletics finance called House vs NCAA. Before anything like Jimbo's buyout, our AD has a fully new expense line item in his budget of ~$20M annually due to this.

But if someone wants to step up and be the benefactor for a sport (soccer or any other) that loses money and has very little revenue associated with it, then I'm sure that person could have significant influence over said program's hirings and firings..

Or Perhaps we stop spending on unnecessary facilities for programs that aren't winning up to expectations and use the money instead for a coach that gets us to expectation (then build facilities)

That's great. Cut capex (not in the P&L) for projects already committed and funded by a different entity (12th Man Foundation) and it will somehow be treated as annual revenue or a reduction in expense into perpetuity by the Athletic Department.

Someone please let Trev know.

As an aside, you can have less of a commitment to facilities in the future as a fundraising prerogative by the 12th Man Foundation, but that is future tense stuff. And the NIL door is already open at Texas Aggies United (the official NIL Partner of Texas A&M Athletics) and you can even receive priority points with the 12th Man Foundation. So, fund away the $20M annual deficit and we will all be good to go.

Every starter from the past season with remaining eligibility is in the transfer portal. All 7 of them.

Yes, it's true. The back line and 2 in the midfield. Maybe a change in personnel will eventually be good. That core group couldn't get things done, so maybe a shake up will end up being ok. The captain will be a really tough one to replace. The anchor and leader.
Yes, it is upsetting, but at the same time, the results weren't there. Even with bad coaching, a talented group can still get results.

I mean I imagined some would leave, but not that many! But those girls deserve better and they deserve to fight for something more well into November, not fighting for .500 halfway through October

And aside from immediate playing time… what transfer portal players and future recruits see this dysfunctional chaotic mess and are going to want to come play here

Literally zero quality players are gonna join a team where basically everyone left and it isn't due to a HC change…
