The internet says he is one of the highest paid soccer coaches in the country. Not women's specific, but just soccer. It showed he was highest women's paid coach and maybe second highest overall behind Maryland men's coach. It's probably not accurate as I was piecing information from multiple sites together the other day, but even if off, it says he is way up there as far as top paid coaches. It was like like $425K

KBTX article about Phil's retirement says that G "makes $250,000 per year, with a guaranteed buyout, should the university choose to terminate without cause." It also says that G's contract was extended in 2022 through March 2026. This is why we'll have him one more year.

This is exactly what Bjork would have done, just like he did with Blair and Jo Evans. Let the clock run out while the program deteriorates further instead of moving on. Trev: "meet the new boss, same as the old boss."

Most of the players entering the portal were rumored to have been mentioning the portal mid season, before Coach Phil was gone. It is unfortunate and sad that players are leaving and not staying to see it through after being a part of one of the worst seasons in Texas A&M soccer history. Everyone should take ownership in the disappointing season; the coaches and the players. Coach Phil never made changes to the line up so the team continued to underperform.
The environment was negative and toxic. Any change, even a change that most do not agree with, will be a welcome change for the program. Coach G and the assistant coaches will make changes from how Coach Phil ran the program. The change is positive. It might not bring wins with a team being thrown together, since so many are leaving, but the environment around the program should improve.

From everything I have been told from former players, this is accurate. Cancer to the program. Culture dead.

lol so Coach G allowed his assistant to do all the coaching and make decisions. So you're saying G sat on his behind and did nothing about it, just like he did during the sec tournament when he was yawning and sitting down the entire game. Seems just like him, thank you for the insight

Not supporting any coach. Not picking sides. Just stating the obvious that everyone knows Coach Phil ran the team. It is obvious how the team operates if you watch the sidelines during games, watch pregame, watch postgame, and talk to recent former players.

This is insanity. Coach G is 100% responsible for everything. Nobody else. G is responsible. To debate that is ignorant. If you are saying Phil did his job in coaching during games, then ok, I can understand that. But to say G has no control over what is going on is like saying Pablo Escobar bares no responsibility for his drug cartel.

This situation has also told me a lot about Trev Alberts… one that he must not care about the state of Aggie soccer. Nebraska isn't anything in soccer either. Two he must have gave into Coach G's sob story that one we'll be better next year and two G probably is playing the "deserves respect because he's been here forever card" him and his administration fail to see the state of the program and they'll pay the repercussions. Any AD who cares would have made the move. We can't keep falling further away from elite and furthers away from mediocrity even.

Absolutely true. Historically many of the players did not have as close a relationship with G. That relationship was largely with Lori and Phil.

In watching the coaches on the sideline this year, G was far more involved than he had been in previous years while Phil was more in the background.

And Lori's been gone for 3 years now, almost like she was the one holding things together

I'm glad that player had a good experience playing at A&M. Sadly, that has not been the experience for most players in recent years.

Missed a day, guess I need to go to to the portal and find other posters who are better
