Phil is the far better coach and the far better recruiter. There is no way Phil simply retired. I speculate that G was told by the AD that a move of this type was required. For all we know, they are already working on the next move to announce G's retirement and the hiring of a new coach.

I don't think this is very accurate. Phil was once a great coach, but over the past 4-5 years had become a cancer in the program. the team culture died under Phil.Aggie Futbol said:

lol…if G didn't know all this was happening he's too dumb to be our HC any longer, and if he did, then he's complicit and should be fired…either way he should be gone. Respectfully.

Some think we are making a change at head coach after how the handling of the assistance coach was done this past week. That makes no sense at all. If they were making a complete change that would have been the only announcement that ever came out.
The way this is being handled looks just like what a school would be doing for the only coach they have ever had. if everything was still quiet than I think a change might take place this year. Bot not now.

He's mocking people that still wish to believe G is gone lol, he was quicker than most in accepting it! Some of us still don't want to face that reality

And I agree with you that a change needs to be made now. I actually have a hard time watching our team now a days bc their style of play is so bad. And I'm a girl soccer dad so it bugs me.

It's funny you say that one. I remember coach G coming to my daughter's club a few years ago. He actually coached her team for a session. His main point was being able to make passes that were two levels instead of just one. Press the ball forward. Put pressure on the defense. Well my daughter's best aspect of her game is passing. She connects with her teammates consistently no matter what level of pass. So he kept praising her during the practice. But most of the girls would turn it over when trying to pass two levels. Looked very similar to what we do now.

Sadly, this is an accurate assessment. The players that Phil (and G, but mostly Phil) wanted to promote were selected before the team even had a first practice in August. They had the players preselected based on who looked better for a sound bite. Then Phil made sure there was a clear divide within the team.
The coaches basically treated this team like that stupid chicken commercial. In this case, their plan was throwing minutes (as opposed to antibiotics) at them. Starters not performing, they just need more minutes. Non-starters playing really well at practice? Then let's make sure they don't play too much and make people question why they aren't getting more playing time. No one should assume that just because players were not playing last year, they aren't talented players. No one thought too much about Hayes, Boeckman, or Gesik leaving and Phil had basically relegated them too.

Because the girls are getting the short end of this stick with lack of leadership and proper training, don't be surprised by girls entering the portal. The sacrifices made by the ladies and the families since they were youngsters shouldn't go to waste while. A & M goes through this decline. They are being told they aren't good enough.. really it's the other way around.
If this is the case, THEN WHAT A FOOL COACH G IS TO LET THIS HAPPEN… you all want to blame an assistant coach for doing this. THE HEAD COACHED ALLOWED IT AND DID NOTHING ABOUT IT… I know you all are trying to pass the blame to Phil, but yikes this makes Coach G look even more pathetic! I'm at a loss of words even more now. This program is hilarious.
It was obvious when G goes to the media mid conference play and says "these girls aren't getting it done, we need to go get better players in the portal" then he gets better players with better stats, and he refused to play them. He instead plays the girls who struggled to win the year before and the year before that. Absolutely pathetic by Coach G
It's truly a comedy at this point. Much of this is on the coaching staff (as we can all see) having to coach to the talent level on the field. Unfortunately for Texas A&M, the current staff has poisoned the lure of playing for A&M. At the end of the day, talent wins. We don't have equitable talent that's comparable to the top 5/10 programs. This is because of...reasons...that our AD refuses to acknowledge and address.Observer1 said:

The TCU game was the one that was glaring to me. Trev needs to watch that game and think through things.

Reading this forum has been super entertaining. It is nice to have a group that takes such a keen interest in the success of these amazing young women. I know it has been a frustrating team to follow over the last few years and I want to thank you guys for being mostly constructive (despite your justifiable frustrations with the team's performance). This will be my first and last post on this site.
Before I go, I would like to ask you to close your eyes and visualize the 4-5 best players on the current roster with remaining eligibility. Imagine, for a moment, the perennial starters, the 90-minute players, the small handful of remaining players that have been recognized by the SEC over the course of their careers at A&M. Have you made your list? Ok, you can open your eyes.
THIS MONDAY, EVERY PLAYER ON YOUR LIST WILL BE IN THE PORTAL.
How many times have you seen an assistant coach's "retirement" cause every healthy remaining notable player to leave a program? I'm sure you can appreciate how difficult it is to become a consistently starting, 90-minute playing, scholarship athlete on a Division 1, Power 5 Conference, SEC team that charters private planes to and from all of their away games. My point is, they are voluntarily walking away from a fairytale. If you guys are smart (and I sense you are) the fact that this particular set of girls are leaving should tell you everything you need to know. I pray this program returns to greatness one day and I pray that all of you who are fans of the team can hang in there until it does.
If I could ask for one more thing; when and if you are able, say a short prayer for the girls that have found the courage to leave, and say a prayer for the ones that are staying too. Right now, your beloved institution is trapped in a dysfunctional relationship that they don't have the courage to leave. Be that as it may, TAMU is too strong (and too smart) to allow this to persist much longer. Keep the faith, it's part of y'all's charm!

I'm assuming, after reading this, that you are associated with one of the players leaving (or a coach that may be heading out as well - or somehow associated with the program). First and foremost, if so, thank you for representing our school well. Please feel free to comment more. I think it helps those that aren't around the program as much understand and realize the extent of the problem.

Carolyn Calzada is going into her last year of eligibility, she deserves to be on a national title contending team! Same for other girls, our goalies are young and have promising careers, would be heartbreaking if they're forced to save G's butt another season! Some of the girls deserve so much more and a simple text to Maile Hayes or Carissa Boeckmann I'm sure will show them that the grass is greener on the other side
This situation has also told me a lot about Trev Alberts… one that he must not care about the state of Aggie soccer. Nebraska isn't anything in soccer either. Two he must have gave into Coach G's sob story that one we'll be better next year and two G probably is playing the "deserves respect because he's been here forever card" him and his administration fail to see the state of the program and they'll pay the repercussions. Any AD who cares would have made the move. We can't keep falling further away from elite and furthers away from mediocrity even.
