That's freaking egregious. Ref should have stopped play or cleared the stands.

All it would take is Senegal getting the shaft here. Ban them from this WC due to the laser pointers and I guarantee fans would curb stomp any jerk who tries that stunt in the future.

I'm amazed the match wasn't halted

Y'all think there's any way we can get Mo to play for the USMNT?

Keep a close eye on the transfer portal. The Honea Egypt area of Magnolia, TX is booming right now too.

We used to live right over there back in the day.

He's going to be so pissed. Hat trick incoming on Saturday.

Would prefer if he could bottle up that anger for about 10 days

Slept too long and already missed a goal.

Anyone seen if TAA is expected to play Tuesday?

Listening to Klopps post-game, I think so.

Interesting question to think about - if you can only win one of these two matches vs City and you have to lose the other, which do you pick to win?

The league game, no question 100%.

The lineup I'd like to see today

Alisson
Trent for 60 then Gomez
Konate
Virg
Tsimikas
Fabinho
Henderson
Naby
MO
Diaz
Mane (with Jota coming on as a sub for one of the front three)

Is Robbo hurt or are you just resting him?

Just resting him.

Something I was wondering about MO earlier and will go back and research later, has a player ever won the Baloon d'or in a WC year and not qualified/participated in the WC?

Don't know the answer for past winners, but this will absolutely keep Mo from winning. If we win the quadruple and he lights it up he could pull it off.

We look pretty strong so far but I gotta say this Darwin guy on Benfica is a player. He needs to be at a bigger club.

Mane!!!

2-0 Liverpool. Helluva ball from Trent to Diaz who the s setup Mane for a tap in.

That Konate blunder really turned this game around. Been pretty lackluster ever since when we had been flying.

Nice run and through ball by Keita to set up DIaz for our third. Job pretty much done and I thought we played decently (minus Konate gifting them their goal).

Another nice win. The next game is the biggest. Need Mo to get his swagger back. His touch and confidence are a bit off.

Good gravy, Trent's pass on Mane's goal....

Good win. It kind of looked like they were just going through the motions for parts of the game. Hope that means their minds are on City. Loved seeing us rest and sub guys early. I was listening to a podcast this morning and Salah's xGI has actually improved over the beginning of the season....it's just his finishing is off from earlier on. Thought that was a crazy stat.

Fantastic Article about the Liverpool/City rivalry in the Pep/Klopp Era.

https://theathletic.com/3233554/2022/04/07/how-guardiola-and-klopp-left-the-rest-of-the-premier-league-in-their-wake/?source=user_shared_article

A few eye popping stats:

Quote:

To put that in context, in the four seasons from 2017-18 to 2021-22, Manchester United finished an average of 19.5 points behind City (and are 22 points adrift this time); Chelsea, Champions League winners last season and Europa League winners in 2019, an average of 22.5 points behind City; Tottenham, Champions League finalists in 2019, an average of 24 behind; Arsenal an average of 28.8 points behind.

Or, to put it another way, out of 182 Premier League matches since the start of their second season under Guardiola, City have won 140, drawn 18 and lost 24. That equates to an eye-watering 438 points from a possible 546. Over the same period, Manchester United have won 338 points precisely 100 fewer. Chelsea have 334, Tottenham 323 and Arsenal a mere 304.

Quote:

But even more staggering is that Liverpool have ended up matching them almost stride for stride.

Since the start of that 2017-18 campaign, Liverpool have 412 points 26 short of City, but 74 points more than United and 78 more than Chelsea over the same period.

Take it from the start of 2018-19 and Liverpool (337) are just a point behind City (338), losing 15 of 144 matches.

Quote:

That earlier stat about Liverpool losing just 15 out of 144 Premier League matches since August 2018? It is all the more mind-boggling when you consider eight of those 15 defeats came in the space of 12 matches early last year when, ravaged by defensive injuries and seemingly demoralised by the joylessness of pandemic-era football, they seemed to lose their way completely.

Their six consecutive losses at an empty Anfield during that two-month period are, incredibly, Liverpool's only six at home in the league since April 2017.

New winger incoming this summer. Really promising young talent and the price is pretty great (as usual for an LFC signing).
