Losing Root Sports (Astros) would suck too...
I have Directv Now and you can log in to the NBC Sports app (via iphone, apple TV, etc) as part of the package. You also get the NBC Sports channel through the Directv Now subscription package, at least at the mid-tier level I have so that should cover all the EPL matches you want to watch (I didn't miss any Arsenal games this year)

Losing Root Sports has really been the only bad part of cutting the cord for me, but I'm holding out hope that they will eventually put it on since AT&T owns both the channel and Directv Now.

I also use DirecTV Now. Between the NBC Sports channels directly included and the NBC Sports app with a Chromecast, it covers your PL needs pretty well.

My thoughts exactly. I'm gonna drop Consolidated DSL this week and switch to Suddenlink Cable internet.


Keeping Consolidated Cable for the time being, but I'll probably switch to DirectTV Now soon. Just need to get that 50mb first. Consolidated only offers 20mb at my residence.


Anyways, back to United news! Just needed some EPL cable advice.

Carrick was named captain today. I thought it would be Valencia since he is likely to feature more often. Mourinho seems to be going the seniority route here, which is probably a good thing for now.

Reports that Ibra's recovery is going amazingly well and that he could return to soccer as early as October. He's been rehabbing at United's facilities and United are considering offering him a contract.

When Lukaku signed, he mentioned that he asked Ibra for permission to wear the number 9...almost as if he expected Ibra to be back.

An Ibra and Lukaku line up could be terrifying. Just don't see it happening though since I Ibra likes to be the main man.

Has Jose ever played 2 strikers on a consistent basis? Realistically, even if Ibra comes back, he won't be ready to play every game. Even he has to know that. There will be a ton of fixtures next season (if all goes well) so having to 9s isn't a bad problem at all even if it means a bit of rotation.

To me, Dier seems like a quicker and bigger Daly Blind, although maybe not quite as good as Blind with the ball. He played holding mid, CB and RB for Spurs last year, sometimes all in the same game. He doesn't seem like your prototypical Mourinho holding mid, but his versatility is definitely interesting. Spurs would often switch from 4 at the back to 3 at the back formation last year simply by pushing both outside backs forward and dropping Dier into a back three. If Shaw is healthy, that could be a very interesting option.

That said, Levy is going to want a king's ransom for him, so I doubt this happens.

Yeah, hopefully Lukaku settles down a bit over the next few games. He didn't look that great...

I kind of want to see how Rashford does up top with Lukaku in that second half 3 at the back formation. I feel like that combination would work very well. Also, I thought Pereira looked decent as the second half holding mid. I still think United need to find a starting quality player to rotate with Carrick, but Pereira definitely deserves to be a rotation option this season. I hope he sticks around and doesn't go on loan again.

It was yellow no doubt. The fact that it took forever for Chapman to go red was a little weird. In a friendly leave it at yellow and get going.

I'm glad Lukaku got on the scoresheet, and I thought Pereira looked great again. Other than that a pretty lackluster performance.

Recorded the game and speed-watched it this AM before work (fast forwarded most of it). Seemed to be a pretty boring game but I guess it is hard for the guys to get too excited about playing RSL. I was glad to see Lukaku get a goal. I know it has zero real value but little things can always start creeping in players heads (if he didn't score for 3+ games then he could start forcing etc).

I am in the minority maybe but I was somewhat ok with the harsh Valencia tackle. He is probably my favorite United player over the past few years (consistent, hard working, etc) and enjoy seeing him stick up for Mata and showing some passion. Need more of that.
