I have to assume that since it seems Morata was United's first choice that they are then selling to Chelsea for a lower price than they asked from United? Either that, or United were assuming Morata would be cheaper, but given equal transfer fees they preferred Lukaku? We will never know the answer, but it is interesting to think about. And agreed, if Morata to Chelsea goes through the comparison will definitely be a talking point for years to come.

I think the somewhat unknown is Morata's full potential. I think in some ways Lukaku is safer but I do think there is a chance Morata could be better in the long run (although he could end up being much worse). Lukaku, despite his 'big game' reputation, is a proven EPL commodity.

Lukaku is a known quantity as an EPL striker. The problem I have with players from other leagues is you never know if they will transition over to what is clearly a more physical league. The EPL is littered with guys who come in and just fall flat on their face.

Matic for 40 million reportedly close to happening. That's a lot for a 29 year old holding mid. Guessing Chelsea is pretty incentivized to gouge United though.

40m is a lot but the market is so inflated right now I think it's about market rate for a solid DM of Matic's quality. He'll free up Pogba which should really help the attack, ironically.
