No one outside of Texas seems to know how to pronounce Burnet. Now that Stephen McGee is a big deal, it's become a major issue when I' watching games.

What other towns should we recruit from for the sole purpose of screwing with broadcasters from out of state?

Refugio comes immediately to mind. As does Humble.

I've always heard the town and the street in downtown Ft. Worth pronounced Lank-uh-ster.

Heck I live in Bartonville, but I was talking to someone on the phone and my address came up as "Argyle" (we share the same zip code). The phone rep pronounced it Ar-gilly. WTF? It a a noun in the dictionary. third grade level. Even when I helped her she did not understand it.

Second story. I had a business associate from North Carolina working with me in Houston. He wanted to meet me downtown and said that he would be on <using the most perfect Southern accent trying to speak proper Castillian Spanish> "San Wakinto Street". I was like where? Finally realized it was San Jacinto.

My pet peeve is Humble. If they want people to pronounce it without the H, they should spell it without the H. For me, I always say the H part. Not Umble as the "proper " pronunciation goes.

Montague County (pronounced Mon-teg, not mon-te-goo)
Alvord, TX (I know what your thinking... its not that hard, Al-vord... but ask any local and they will wrongly pronounce it al-void)

Uncertain, Tx...i think it is 75% inbred there but you know that name would mess with the announcers

Waxahachie, Runge, Quitaque, Leon Springs, Megargel, Eldorado, Fluvanna, Manchaca, Tehuacana, Anahuac, Chillicothe, Seguin, Ysleta, Agua Dulce, Fart Wurf.

These ocasionally give various people various problems.
