Amazing how many teams are from the "Texas Triangle".
Even more amazing is the lack of Houston-area schools that are part of the southeast section of the Texas Triangle.

Muenster vs Shiner used to be a lot of cross over German and Czech ties with those two towns.

Maybe they trade kolaches?
Not really any Czechs in the Muenster / Lindsay area. Just Germans... at least it used to be that way. So no kolaches coming from Cooke County. We'll be rooting for Muenster. While I didn't grow up there, my roots are there.

Of the 22 starters that make up Southlake Carroll football team, there are only 5 seniors. That's insane.

Don't sleep on Smithsonian Valley. Probably one of the most disciplined teams in the finals. Coach Hill is a Texas HS hall of fame coach. They'll be ready.
Why is a team from Washington DC playing?

Gordon wins 70-24 on the first play of the 2nd half. Another mercy rule game. Hopefully the late game is at least competitive.

At least it won't be a mercy rule!

For watching HS games this season we have used the nfhs app on Roku
Been great thru playoffs so far. Only one issue I had was they had the names of the teams wrong on the broadcast. You could see all the games for Texas so I just had to go thru about 8 games to find the one I wanted

Last weekend they had 2 different broadcasts for the same game...one had better camera quality than the other

Only like $14 per month

We used this for the first 3 rounds. The cameras got better each round. The announcing was about on the level of Boom Goes the Dynamite.
94chem,
That, sir, was the greatest post in the history of TexAgs. I salute you. -- Dough

I have attended the last four Shiner games (family tie to a coach). It has been extremely entertaining and I'm sad that I am going to miss the final today. Muenster has basically been favored all year and pretty much beat the crap out of everyone. But you never can accurately measure HS strength of schedule.

All of Muenster's and Shiner's losses were to larger schools.

I did find out I am going to see the game on TV. I have one of those special boxes!

Why does Muenster players have 2 different colored uniforms? Some have red on the sideline but the players on the field are in dark blue (or maybe black, hard to tell).

Probably their JV or Freshman. Not enough other jerseys. They won't play, but have been practicing I am sure.

Muenster punts to the Shiner 1. Shiner needs to burn 5 minutes to win a title

That was a hard-fought victory by Muenster. Shiner and Muenster both played their hearts out and left everything on the field of play.

Went to the game. Thought Muenster was better in the first half and Shiner in the second. Injuries really hurt them. Muenster snapping the ball with 10 and 20 on the play clock on that last drive was a head scratcher. Fun game to attend

Shiner ! My dad was born and grew up there !

Oh yeah? Me, too. Things sure changed a lot after I went to college. I remember we used to always struggle to be competitive in football, now they're a perennial contender. We did manage to win a baseball state championship my freshman year, though.

The Shiner freshman team played this year like future state contenders.

#57 Luke Dierlam, whose parents graduated from Texas A&M, is a real game changer.

Go, Shiner Comanches!

In person I didn't think the opening onside kick made it 10. Upon watching on tv it absolutely didn't. Tough break for Shiner. I don't know what the review rules are in these games. I think Muenster got a bad spot on a 4th that wasn't reviewed

If anyone is interested in joining a couple of '80 CTs and a couple of '80 BQs, we'll be at all three games Thursday and two on Friday. Right now, game 3 on Friday and all day Saturday are looking iffy, as the ringleader of our motley crew is heading off for a Christmas vacation. But if I can get some company on Saturday, I might show up.

At this late time, it might be easiest just to text me at 8 one 7 5 zero 1 8 zero zero 6, and I can tell you where we'll be. It's usually around the 50 on the second deck -- great seats.

A couple of observations from today:
This difference in talent and coaching between the two six-man divisions was apparent. I don't think I've ever see anything like the Gordon did to Whiteface today: Gordon's TOP was 4:04, Gordon ran 16 offensive plays and run-ruled Whiteface on the first play of the second half, 70-24. Gordon had more touchdowns (nine) than Whiteface had tackles (eight). The first 2A game was a really good game between two very good teams. I was pulling for Shiner for no other reasons than outfit (L-1 '77) and class (L-2 '80) affiliations. The dropped deep pass by the Shiner WR late in the game, coupled with a short punt and good return a little later, were the killers for Shiner, but I don't think that there's much doubt that Muenster was the better team.
