Onside kick was done perfect. Ball was caught after just going 1/2 yard past the 10 yards.
you can thank coach Cerny for that. He had a large part in getting the entire athletics program turned around. Great man, and a great family of coaches and people the Cerny's are.ShinerAggie said:fightinag said:

Oh yeah? Me, too. Things sure changed a lot after I went to college. I remember we used to always struggle to be competitive in football, now they're a perennial contender. We did manage to win a baseball state championship my freshman year, though.

Carthage and HC Scott Surratt going for 10th Championship since 2008. This would set the Texas coaches record. He is 9-0 in Championship games and has more titles than playoff losses. GOAT.

still impressive though
Coach Cerny did a great job, but he really just took over for Coach Turek, who had an excellent foundation set for Cerny once he retired.AustinCountyAg said:you can thank coach Cerny for that. We will be there for the Highland Park and Southlake games. I'm hoping the second deck is open.DCC80 said:
If anyone is interested in joining a couple of '80 CTs and a couple of '80 BQs, we'll be at all three games Thursday and two on Friday. Right now, game 3 on Friday and all day Saturday are looking iffy, as the ringleader of our motley crew is heading off for a Christmas vacation. But if I can get some company on Saturday, I might show up.
At this late time, it might be easiest just to text me at 8 one 7 5 zero 1 8 zero zero 6, and I can tell you where we'll be. It's usually around the 50 on the second deck -- great seats.
A couple of observations from today:
This difference in talent and coaching between the two six-man divisions was apparent. I don't think I've ever see anything like the Gordon did to Whiteface today: Gordon's TOP was 4:04, Gordon ran 16 offensive plays and run-ruled Whiteface on the first play of the second half, 70-24. Gordon had more touchdowns (nine) than Whiteface had tackles (eight). The first 2A game was a really good game between two very good teams. I was pulling for Shiner for no other reasons than outfit (L-1 '77) and class (L-2 '80) affiliations. The dropped deep pass by the Shiner WR late in the game, coupled with a short punt and good return a little later, were the killers for Shiner, but I don't think that there's much doubt that Muenster was the better team.
Agreed that was bad. Can confirm there were no bottles thrown.HTownAg98 said:
Thank God the replay was able to reverse that call. That was SEC officiating bad.

Ganado misses 22 yard FG to win it. Wow

Photoshopped? I took the picture of my television.LB12Diamond said:
That picture is a bad angle or photoshopped. They have the video at Dave Campbell's X site. It clearly shows he touched after 10 yards. Very easy to see.
And FYI, they have replay at the state title games. This would have been overturned easily if touched prior to going 10 yards.
But as I have now pointed out twice. He caught it at 10 1/2 yards.
I guess I've been wrong. I thought it was Guh-noddo, and I could swear that's how I've always heard it.DBird said:Guh naydoJugstore Cowboy said:

It seems crazy, but I guess nobody wants to see HS players gassed, walking up and down the field.PhatMack19 said:
2 point conversion contest is a ridiculous way to decide a football game.
I wonder if North Crowley rising up is due to Aledo no longer buying their best players and the new coach taking them to the next level.Agz_2003 said:
Interesting tidbit: North Crowley head coach Ray Gates played RB for Shiner circa 2000. His record has been phenomenal as HC at NC.
- 2024 - currently 15-0. PF 814 | PA 262
- 2023 - 14-1 - Lost to Duncanville who won state championship. Gates named 2023 Forth Worth COY. PF 788 | PA 258
- 2022 - 12-1 (Gates' first year at NC). PF 526 | PA 252

- 2020 - 7-4
- 2019 - 3-7

2 teams are separated by a razor thin margin. At the end of the game, one team made one more play than the other one. I don't really see the problem. Maybe best-of-3, like penalty kicks, then sudden death?
It's just renamed. Bally's SW, now Fan Duel. 675 on DirecTV (in Houston, anyway). Same channel number it always was, I think.milner79 said:
Disappointing these games aren't easier to access on "normal" TV. I miss the days of Fox Sports Southwest.
