Is anyone following along with the Marshall story?

HC leaves to take Southern Miss job and reportedly everyone from their team is hitting the portal.

Have been following the Marshall U situation. Really interesting actually. Super rare these days for a coach to enter the final year of a contract (ie, not extended nor fired). Once that happened I figured it was really unlikely that the HC (Huff) would agree to stay. Ultimately he bet on himself and his team. They probably underachieved last season, but certainly exceeded all expectations by winning the SunBelt this year. My surprise was that the HC chose to go to a complete rebuild situation at USM. Marshall has replaced him with the DC from NC State who had ties to the state of WV. Marshall will probably have a heavy portal team given all the changes.

Is there any way we get the WR from Georgia tech they have him as the #1 player in the portal.


If we can get him the guy from Mississippi then the KC guy and the Hudson both sign Marcel will have some legit weapons to throw to.

Plus we will have Ruben ownes and Levon hopefully heathy at the same time. Not to mention our FR 5 star WR.

All that is missing if we have all of that is a good TE

Getting pretty thin at WR, of the 11 active on the roster 3 graduate, 3 have hit the transfer portal, so Its Noah and the true freshmen (which includes Bussey if he stays at WR)

There is a reason he was in a the 7this guy before others came in, but he was obviously BAD when he was in. Probably wish he was still on the roster with the opportunity to improve after his first year, but it's not that big of a loss.

Zuhn is going pro? Wow. He got so abused against Texas that I'm surprised he has enough upside to make it work.

Zuhn is not decided. Tos seems to think he will be back.

We would take a tackle with or without Zuhn.

TJ is a loss, period....if he doesn't come back. Yes, he had mistakes/errors and some temper, but we need that disposition on the OL and really was his first year playing after an injury (only upside for him IMO).

There a ton of good blocking video by TJ clearing a hole (> than mistakes). He wants to be starter apparently and understand that might be difficult with Bisonstis and if hopefully Reed-Adams stays (who also has a disposition that created a few flags, but we need that in an OL).

Hoping TJ is more of this year's Bisontis topic...put name in the mkt, but still come back. Hearing tu may be interested and several big schools as he's a talent (early top 10 OL in portal with Kam D), but we'll see.

Per Elko, Zuhn was our highest internally graded OL 'consistently' (haven't reviewed true PFF grading). But, Zuhn over-opined to kick off the season regarding Texas and did it again and definitely did not back it up.

Personnally, I do like confidence, but prefer it 'quiet' and let one's play prove that out vs. giving bulletin board material to opposing teams. Understand others like the chit talking bravado, but looks foolish after not 'backing' it up.

Zuhn would need a hell of a combine and draft process to even be considered in the 6th or 7th round, most mocks have him going undrafted.

Any news today. Are we gonna get any big people today we need those WR badly and maybe a Purdue TE. Then maybe the CB from Georgia and like 3 defensive linemen.

Herein lies a lot of our fanbase problem. Internal perceptions versus external realities.
Said another way, the talent we think we have, the 10 win seasons we think we should be getting....versus the talent we actually have, and reason why we're stuck as "Texas 8&4".

Trey Zuhn, upperclassmen, probably our best OL....perception is he's really really good (and granted, he doesn't suck)....but in reality, right now he's not hitting anybody's NFL draft board yet.

Now....apply that to every position group.

After this year we're looking at yet another scenario where we put 3-ish players into the upcoming NFL draft.
Until that changes, that Texas 8&4 bull**** won't be changing much either.

Siap but how does it work with playoff team players that want to go portal after playoff is over? Don't they have to be enrolled at school by a certain date or will university make an "exception"?

Exactly! Through our maroon tinted glasses we convince ourselves that some players are way better than they actually are. Zuhn had trouble with good DE's all year. Our other captain York was a liability most of the season on defense, but we'll convince ourselves that they're great because we want them to be or because Aggie media tells us they are. The worst thing is when people say we have depth and just list off the players lol.

We will not be trying to get TJ back like we did Bisontis. In fact, we either low balled his NIL intentionally, or straight up told him he'd be in a dog fight to stay 2nd string. He didn't like what he heard and left.

Bisontis was during a coaching change. We immediately did everything we could to get him back. We probably aren't even talking to TJ nor are trying at all.

Who is coming on visits. Who do we think that will become an Aggie

Yea, have heard that a bit too, but also heard depends on Reed-Adams final decision and if we grab 1-2 in portal (we like younger talent, but inexperience is still and issue). Of course there's some talk of upgrading tackle and potentially sliding Zuhn inside, but who really knows on that front.

OL improved, but still not good enough to really compete vs. upper echelon. While not top portal priority (other than maybe a Tackle), do think they should look at a couple OL that hit the market.

Time will tell.
