So who have we communicated with and who do you think the Ags will end up getting in this portal season

My guess is:
QB 1
TB 0-1
WR 3-4
TE 2
OL 1
DL 3-4
LB 0-1
DB 1-2
12-16 total.

Well gee whiz, no *****? Thanks for pointing out the obvious, Captain.vander54 said:TxAg76 said:vander54 said:90ags said:
I think we need 3-4 WRs, but want 2-3 that are immediate impact starters / rotation. K Concepcion would be (well, could be -- think in the slot as smaller) while Hudson has 'potential' to be (think would take time and part of the season). We need another 1-2 if they land these 2 regardless.
Not to get confused, Conepcion is above avg and production down in a piss poor offense play at NC State. The KY WR would be better, but don't recall if he's even looking at A&M.
We don't need 3 or 4. That would mean we have no worthy starters.
Grab a true WR1 from the portal and have Thomas outside with Bussey in the slot. Then add a talented guy for depth that may become a starter.
Why do we think we have "worthy starters" right now?
I understand we have guys on the roster who are currently "starting", but if they aren't NFL potential, we need to be rethinking things.
Always be looking to upgrade the roster where you can. If it's a toss up, then make a depth decision. But if it's a legit upgrade, we've gotta try. We're either trying to build a championship caliber roster, or we're not. And right now we don't have one.
As for Bussey, weren't we trying to keep him at DB? And just slid him to WR this year because of how bad we are at WR right now? And is he slated to move back to DB once we get legit "worthy starters"?
You are WAY over simplifying recruiting and roster management. You can't just go replace every guy with NFL talent. You have to pick and choice.

Doesn't change what I said....if the portal player in question is neutral and not an upgrade, then you make a depth decision.
But if the portal player is a clear upgrade, you HAVE to try for them. Or at least gauge their interest.

You don't go after talent just because it's there. You go after talent if it will make a large enough impact on your team. Saying you need to upgrade at all times is blatantly false. You upgrade where it makes sense. And going after 3-4 WR with 2-3 starters does not make sense.

It would be nice if we could get William Nwaneri, an edge rusher from Missouri.
That time again.

Well looks like we'll have a shot at Umanmielen. He has A&M in his standout options for schools, along with LSU, Ole Miss, Auburn, FSU and Tech.

When do those WR come in and visit we need those. Do you think we have a shot at getting them
Did you happen to see the Ole Miss "experts" CB prediction percentages?beerad12man said:
They have crystal balls. But not committed.
Either way, portal rankings are probably even worse than high school rankings. Read the tea leaves on who we want and/or who we are recruiting against for a player That's more telling, IMHO. The rankings will be very unreliable. I think they were even worse than HS rankings last portal rankings.
Not to mention that there are probably about 500+ more guys to enter.
