Although dumb in my opinion, I assume Washington wanted to get a first down so they could end the game instead of having to punt with 30ish seconds on the clock.

That was a pretty perfect pass for the win at the end there
So Washington gets the onsides kick with 69 seconds left and two TU timeouts remaining. UW runs 3 running plays. TU calls their two timeouts and the UW back gets injured. Somehow, the rules allow TU to get the punt snapped with a dead clock at 50 seconds. UW runs three running plays and burns only 29 seconds with only two TU TOs. Those rules are really bad. I get the play clock converting to 25 seconds from 40 but the game clock should have started with the play clock. Then UW tried everything they could to lose including the interference on the punt.

Ball needs to make contact to stop the clock. There is no invisible barrier for OOB.

Different scenarios. If it was a Texas player they'd be forced to use a timeout. They don't have one so it'd be a clock runoff and I do believe the game clock would start with the play clock.
I swear tu used two timeouts on the washingston drive that ended with a fg near the end of the game
Looks like everything worked out. FSU lost and the two undefeated teams made it to the championship
The mistake was the pass before the FG. They should have run the ball there and forced tu to take another timeout. I don't have an issue with the last series. They needed a first down to ice it. I don't know of many coaches that would kneel it three times and punt it away. Most try to put it away with a first down. The injury was unfortunate.
