Don't you think that if Elko is hiring position coaches, he already has the coordinators lined up?
The DB hire is as critical as the OL hire in my opinion. We've got to improve on defending the pass to have a great defense. Seems like we couldn't do that this year without getting flagged for interference.
Hopefully, but unlike the business world, it's not that uncommon for the head coach to make these hires with no input from his coordinators. Think how often a OC or DC is hired and the offensive or defensive staff under them isn't always cleaned house.CrottyKid said:

Dukes corners were fantastic this year...
I suspect we will see Taylor from Duke also join the staff if he doesn't get the Head job at Duke. Not sure what position he fits into, he's coached a lot of positions over the years.

But I have been told it is a for sure that Bryant Gross-Armiento is being retained as a secondary coach. I'm assuming will coach safties since the announcement of Aristide of corners coach.
Waiting to see a little more official word on this.

I haven't seen anything official yet but agree. BGA will most likely be staying as safeties coach.

Why? Safety play was atrocious this year.
Feel confident enough now in what I'm being told that BGA is retained as safeties coach. List has been updated.
Also told TJE will be retained in some role, not certain on what that is yet.

Agree. One source told me DE but I don't believe that will be the case. We aren't going to take up two on field spots like we did with Price and Robinson on the DL. Fisher only got away with that because he had no ST coach.vander54 said:Gyles Marrett said:

About 95% certain it is Taylor that is the other Duke hire. But should be the last from Duke.

Im a little uninformed with how this usually goes but isnt it a bit odd to hire position coaches before you hire coordinators? I feel like you would want your coordinators on board with the hires
The general negative theme is that he's a bad person. Also accusations of being the bag man when he was at Auburn, which is pretty funny coming from LSU folks.

Not surprising. They hate anything associated with A&M on that site. It's an illiterate swamp t-shirt fan paradise.
He was considered a great recruiter at Tennessee /Auburn and accused of being a bag man. I remember his name coming up as a potential hire under Sumlin. Not sure what transpired at Auburn to cause him to have to take several steps down in profile.

I have a hard time believing that Elko would hire a coach that has bad character. Elko seems to be a very straight shooter and demands that from his staff.
That's where I'm at with it. Did a quick Google search on Trooper Taylor and saw the TD link. The negative comments sound like sour grapes more than anything. If it pisses off LSU then I'm in favor.
