2023 is the final season of college football as we know it today. College football will basically be Saturday NFL from 2024 onward. Rivalries? Tradition? Who gives a damn…all that matters now is how big of a payday can the athletic department get from corporate media providers.

I'm not ready to give up on it just yet but... damn. This concentrating of brands, power and money into fewer and fewer hands sucks.

I do feel bad for the Wazzous and OSUs of CFB. Relegated because they don't get enough eyeballs.

As somebody who is just here as a college football fan and game watcher, I'm excited about the new match-ups. I never watch any of the smaller school's games anyway.

Better match-ups = more entertainment for me ... but maybe that's just me??

So with this B10 cannibalization of the PAC12, does the Rose Bowl become a conference game at a neutral site?

Unlike USC and UCLA, they won't get a full revenue share for quite a few years.

I'm guessing it's part of the new 12 team playoff. So, no real alliance anymore?

but as the Big 10 continues to expand...those Michigan vs. Southern Cal or Ohio State vs.. UCLA regular season matchups get fewer and farther between

still going to get a bunch of the usual Big 10 conference matchups...

and as more Pac-12 teams join the Big 10...get more of the same Pac-12 matchups

All the big 10 needs to do is to get FSU and Clemson in the fold, then go after a couple of disgruntled SEC teams and they will own college football, if they don't already. If the big 10 comes knocking teams in the sec might want to answer the door.

so back to arizona, arizona st and utah to join colorado in BDF? if i am BDF i am bringing over even more of the pac 12 than just those four schools. take it up to 20 teams call it a day. BDF needs to stay ahead of the curve not behind it. this is their opportunity.

I hate all of the consolidation, but A&M needs to seriously consider moving to the Big 10 as well. It's all about dollars at this point and the Big 10 has teams in all of the major markets except Texas, Georgia and Florida. The amount of dollars coming into the Big 10 will dwarf the SEC. For the most part the schools are better in academics than the SEC schools and the Big 10 fans are way classier than the SEC fanbases. Plus a nice middle finger to the SEC for backdoring us with Texas.

What do y'all want Sankey to do? If the SEC added teams, they wouldn't be able to renegotiate the rights deals, so it would mean a smaller piece of the pie for existing schools.

Can't get any ACC schools yet, since they are locked into their GOR.

There's no PAC or Big 12 schools worth going after at this point. Would we even want to add west coast schools? I don't think so.

There's a lot of dumb opinions in this thread.

The SEC is somehow falling behind? The Big 10 is single-handedly killing a 100-year old conference.
The SEC STARTED this by taking 2 of the biggest CFB brands there are, and didn't annihilate a conference to do it.

A&M needs to join the Big 10?? Why on earth?

Where do you think this money is coming from? It's gonna dry up, one school doesn't add that much value. They networks are gonna be tapped out of $$ real soon. Plus most big 10 additions have started as Jr members so itd take a long time to recoup the $$$ if ever

If Arizona, Arizona State and Utah join the Big 12, that only leaves 4 schools in what was the Pac 12.

Does that mean they lose their automatic qualifier for the 12 team playoff? The power 5 would become the power 4?

A&M brings the Texas market. Thats a lot of football crazy eyeballs dont you think? Do you think more money comes from the southeast? It all about the number of households in these markets and while the SEC may care more, they don't have the headcount. I would love to stay closer to the SEC but in the NIL world we need as much money as we can get to compete going forward.

at least some money can money come from decreased deals with conferences like the pac that were raided and will become nothing more than a G5 conference in terms of competitiveness and appeal.

same wil lhappenj if teams leave the ACC to join the SEC or Big10 - the ACC contract goes way down in value so the networks can increase the value of the SEC and Big10 contracts.

but you are right, at some point expansion is not going to bring any more money to the teams currently in the best leagues, just to the newcomers.

Doesn't matter anymore, that was when networks needed to get picked up. Big 10 network comes on YouTube tv and other programming. When you're splitting $80 mill or whatever 16 ways, you have to be worth a **** ton to make those other 16 plus your income make sense. No one can pull that off now. I bet some Jr members are gonna be announced today.

But they aren't moving to LA, Miss or Alabama. California added 119,000 millionaires in the last 2 years alone. Miami actually lost 80,000 residents last year. There is growth in the south, but is it people who will cut NIL checks? I am not so sure.

I can only speak from my game day experiences. Went to the OSU-ND game last year. The OSU fans were great. Way less trashy than Ark, LSU and Alabama. Last time I went to LSU they were burning Porta-potties, Alabama they tried to fight my group as we were walking out, and Arkansas is well Arkansas.

Why does Sankey need to do anything? If the B1G has 18 teams and the SEC has 16, so what? Heck, who cares if the B1G ends up with 20? Eventually one of the conferences will ink a TV deal that isn't supported by the revenue the conference brings in and the bubble will burst. I don't even like the sips or OU, but the SEC has a product that wouldn't be improved by adding much of anyone who is available right now.

To suggest that the SEC is sitting this out and doing nothing is pretty dumb, the SEC started this round, everyone else is responding.
