I would like to keep LSU for the Thanksgiving weekend, but the Texas vs Texas A&M game will probably be played on Thanksgiving. Also, the SEC will resume the Arkansas vs LSU AKA The Battle for the Golden Boot on Black Friday. The Battle for the Golden Boot was usually played on Black Friday until 2014. We played Missouri on Thanksgiving weekend in our first two years in the SEC. Then in 2014, Arkansas started playing Missouri, their cross-division opponent, on Black Friday, and the Arkansas - Missouri game became known as the Battle Line Rivalry. Since Missouri will probably move to the SEC West, the Battle Line Rivalry will continue, but it will be played at some other time.

No. The game is back. The tradition needs to be as well.

I agree the game with cow should be our last game, but it is better on Saturday. Playing on T-Day is a competitive disadvantage vs. the rest of the conference. Now, so long as cow has a game the Sat. before like we do, the teams are on equal footing, but LSU/Pig, Iron Bowl, etc., they are all getting a week between game 11 and 12, and we should as well.

State and Ole Miss like playing on T-Day, so let that continue. Any college game on T-Day evening is dwarfed by the NFL regardless.

I prefer T-day with family, let others play, then we play on Saturday. Heck even Friday night would be better IMHO.

I don't understand why people don't know that. ESPN makes the money off of the ratings. Does nothing for the conference money as that is set by the contract.

It is likely that part of the negotiation for a new contract was That A&M and Texas play around Thanksgiving. If ESPN is paying too dollar for Airtime, they are going to want to put the game on when ratings are the highest. A&M vs Texas on Thanksgiving will likely draw more ratings than A&M vs LSU.

We can play the sips any time any day but not on thanksgiving weekend. They gave it up and should live with their punk decision not to play us when we originally left the big dumpster fire. LSU was kind enough to fit us in on rivalry week and while we haven't been particularly competitive, it's really grow into something special, especially after 74-72. I hope our admin doesn't screw up the good rivalry we started up with LSU.
Rivalry with LSU <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< rivalry with the horns

For example, if the SEC was adding LSU, you wouldn't have seen thousands of meltdown threads on TexAgs.

The fact that threads like this are even getting started, means the game should be on Thanksgiving. The more hate and animosity between Austin and College Station, the better. Keep it up guys. A nasty hate filled rivalry is the most entertaining kind.

I would rather keep playing LSU on Saturday. But we are gonna go back to sip.

It's not all bad though. I feel bad that we ruined a good thing Arky and LSU had on that weekend so it may be good to return it to them.

Alabama and Auburn usually play a cupcake game in Game 11 before playing each other in the Iron Bowl in Game 12, but not this year. On November 20th, Auburn will travel to South Carolina, and Alabama will host Arkansas.

The Egg Bowl wasn't always played on Thanksgiving Day. It was played on a Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend in 2014-2016 and again in 2020. The NFL usually has 3 games on Thanksgiving Day, one each on Fox, CBS, and NBC. I agree that these NFL games would dwarf any college game on Thanksgiving Day.

I also agree with you that we should play on Saturday or even Friday night of Thanksgiving. Let the other college games continue and get crushed by NFL games on Thanksgiving Day.

Sankey was a held as a hero on here in 2020, when he put up his middle finger to the Big 10 trying to cancel the football season due to COVID.

But, alas, you can quickly rise and fall on the message boards.

Maybe the $ips can demand to play in Austin every year for Turkey Day, and have the SEC rotate a different conference opponent each year? You know, like the BDF.

You know it's gonna be asked if we keep LSU that weekend. They can't help themselves.

No?

Then piss on them they're just another game in the conference.

Yes?

I'd consider it.

F no. Piss on them, the "tradition" that they broke when they threw their hissy fit 10 years ago and everything else.

One day Ags will figure out that we don't owe tu a damn thing, that we don't need to cater to them, and we don't need to make them happy. But not in this lifetime apparently, too much Stockholm syndrome in our DNA.

Welcome to Big XII Lite, we are right back where we were in 1999.

just for reference...A&M and t.u. have played over 40 times...not on Thanksgiving.

the tradition is just to play as the last game of the regular season --- not necessarily on turkey day

Red River Showdown / Rivalry was to continue through fall of 2025 at Fair Park fwiw.

Someone asked. Not sure if there is an additional period added, but given GoR expiration in 2025, I doubt it.

The money might be the same for the schools but it sure as hell is not the same for the network. You get a ton more eyeballs on Ags vs sips on Thanksgiving than you do putting it on at some other time. Hell on Thanksgiving it might end up being the only college game on or one of very few. ESPN (and SEC) know this, more eyeballs on TV's equals more advertisement $$$ which equates to an easy decision by the network and league on when to play the game. Think about it, if a network has a big time show, they put it on the prime time slot to max eyeballs on TV sets. Like I said, the SEC ( and ESPN) just bought this shiny new toy, that is Ags vs Sips and sips vs ou, of course they are going to roll it out when it is most beneficial to them, you can tell yourself what you want but the most beneficial time for them, the time they will profit the most is Thanksgiving.

At this point, just buckle up the chin straps, line up, and lets get ready to rumble!!!

This won't be popular but I'd go along with whatever LSU wants to do. If they want to keep it on thanksgiving weekend, that's fine we came in and subbed ourselves if for Arkansas. If they'd rather switch back to Arkansas I'd be fine with tu on that weekend as well.

TV ratings have been terrible for college games on actual Thanksgiving. NFL has taken over the entire day. If you are trying to justify going to actual Thanksgiving based on TV ratings, think again, we are better off on Friday or Saturday.

It's just such a fun game though. Much more fun than playing the sips. Better game, more often than not with national implications, Baton Rouge/New Orleans more fun than turd filled Austin. Better tailgating and better food.

Even if A&M and LSU are perennial power houses and Texas sucks? Which has better ratings? Two top 5 teams going toe to toe to finish out the season or a top 5 A&M team playing a 6 win Texas team? How many games against Texas had the intensity of our 74-72 win over LSU(both during and after the game). With Jimbo, it's about to get SERIOUSLY intense year after year with LSU. People want to watch good games, not live in the past. People don't go to Blockbuster to rent a movie anymore. Things change.

For the record, LSU and fans do not like playing this game on Thanksgiving. That's why it moved from Thanksgiving day to Saturdays! They'd probably be glad going back to playing Arkansas on that weekend and piggies would welcome that as well.
I will never understand how someone can tell so many lies and not feel bad about it...
