This entire thread is only looking at it from the perspective of tu/OU and the SEC. You can bet the farm on the fact that the rest of the BDF is not happy at all about this prospect.

Baylor probably already has a call into Ken Starr, and their case of being harmed will actually have legs this time. The financial harm angle by Baylor was an assertion without a lot of merit when we left, but tu/OU leaving will be program destroyers for BU, TCU, OSU, ISU, KSU and possibly even KU if they cannot find another home for basketball.

The lawsuits will be epic.

We need to sit back and watch this unfold.

If the remaining BDF schools are quiet, it could mean TU and OU are just posturing to get a better TV deal out of Fox. And the remaining teams are aware and letting the big bros get them more money. In this scenario, Sankey will just come out of it like a little biatch if he plays along.

If lawsuits start flying, get ready to play tu and OU every year.

Question - is potential extra $$$ from the conference worth the likely headaches t.u. would bring? We know from experience t.u. will throw around their "weight"; they will attempt to meddle in affairs and place themselves on par with Bama.

It's not worth it.

I'd say Mizzou would be a "no."

This is not how the SEC does business. These "leaks" don't come out if actual negotiations are being done. This is tu showing once again why they suck as a conference partner, and stirring the pot, trying to remain relevant. The SEC is so hot right now, they know it. Recruits know it. This is desperation.

This is exactly what happened 10 years ago with A&M. And it's exactly what happened with Nebraska, and exactly what happened with Colorado.

This is how realignment is done.

I'm not sure it's a good thing for a conference to turn down Oklahoma and Texas. The money is good, but I hope the people in Birmingham understand the consequences. Now if the SEC could find a way to take Oklahoma without Texas that would be funny.

OU and Texas are clearly teaming up to find a new home. If they don't end up in the SEC they will end up in the Big 10 or PAC 12 together.

No.

OU can't get into Big10

And PAC with 14 teams? How would they realign divisions?
That's your big concern? The SEC managed to do it a decade ago and it's worked out fine.

Yep. Basically this is a test of how bad fox wants to stay a player in the college sports (basically football).

They have the cash to overpay if they want to, and I think tu and ou would be happy to stay in big12 if money is right.

they've destroyed two conferences chasing any advantage they can find in their favor.

You don't want anything to do with them.

Put simply: she might be hot but a lifetime of herpes isn't worth it.

What would we have to gain by leaking and making it the story line just before it our time in the spot light at SEC media day? The more likely scenario is that the sips leaked to steal the limelight away from us. They attempted the same thing when announcing Sark as their new head coach the morning of the Orange Bowl. They are worried about the exposure we are getting and will do anything to undercut us.

Trying to pin it on the sips via timing.

It is being reported John Sharp himself was who leaked it to Brent Z.

I think people are putting WAY too much importance on a couple of interviews done during a football media day. There is no limelight to steal.

i think we'd Be much better off adding the footprint of states we're not in.

Dammit where is Slive when you need him! supposedly all these schools had a gentleman's agreement to preserve the one school per state thing. 'sips have literally ruined two conferences almost singlehandedly. what is the urgency here? the sec is going to be top dog no matter where these two land.

So our SEC "family" stabbed us in the back?

And anybody thinking there will still be east and west divisions are delusional. Can't do it with 8 teams in a division and a 12 game season unless OOC games are reduced to one per season.

No school is going to turn down an extra $10+MM a year because of this supposed SEC "brotherhood".

tu is A&M's problem and for the other SEC members, they're just another team in Texas.

A&M, Mizzou, and Arkansas are hard no's.

Florida, UK, SCar, and Vandy are going to be no's so that they don't have to play Bama and Auburn every year.

That makes no sense. Arkie would love it. They have wanted to play UT every year. They will be hugely in favor. And they want the extra $$$.

Mizzou won't dare cross Sankey. They also aren't turning down extra $$$. And they won't block a deal that would bring a ton of extra $$$ to everyone walks in the conference.

And we will go along. It would be highly embarrassing to be on the losing end of a 13-1 vote.

So where is this supposed extra money (~90M) coming from?
That's not the half of it. $90 million covers THEIR payout as of 2020. The conference covers expenses and takes their share so they're going to have to add around $100 million in revenue, and that's before the new ESPN contract kicks in which adds another couple hundred million in revenue to the conference...

Then we can get $1 million for every $18-20 million in revenue that they add to the conference.

$10M increase in revenue means they will need to bring in $250M per year more revenue to make it viable, it what universe do adding those 2 schools mean that much more money?

I don't necessarily buy into this cocktail napkin math, but it possible to grow the pot of money longterm if you think adding Texas and OU means you are destroying the Big 12 (a certainty) and the Pac 12 (not unlikely at all) as competitors for fan interest and of course media rights compensation. Your stock of games becomes more valuable as those lessen and the bidding will be concentrated around the SEC, Big 10, and ACC for grade A inventory.

OU won't be able to leave their little brother tier 3 university behind, otherwise known as OSU Cowboys. Oklahoma legislature will block it.

They're not a better neighbor now, with state politics teetering on purple they might be even worse than 2011. Changing conferences won't change them.
