Shouldn't matter come year end when they are deciding the playoffs. All they should factor is where teams are at then.

No, because we s*** the bed against Auburn and Clemson. Top 25 talent no doubt. If we played the way we did against Bama earlier in the season its a totally different team. The fact of the matter is that it was a quality win for them, we are not some doormat cupcake.

Sure. If we lose to UGA and LSU and finish 7-5, will it be looked at as a quality top 25 win then? Probably not.

It won't but I don't see any other teams have to play potentially 3 #1 teams and then two Top 15's. Not saying they should grovel at our feet but the record at the end of this gauntlet is not a good indicator. If we get a crap bowl game and lose to an inferior opponent then that's when we can say welp...

If they stick us in the Texas or Music City bowl and we beat the brakes off the opponent I think it will say a lot. We need to see how we play against Ole Miss, State, and SCAR first. If we make it through 3-0 I think that shows we just played better opponents.

Agree with all of that.

I do think that we are a top 25 team, I do think we are better than a lot of people believe and than what the rankings will reflect. I am just not sure anyone will look at us as a strong quality win unless we either beat LSU/UGA or just demolish the other, lesser schools on our remaining schedule.

the ags could become a top 25 team currently we are not
No running game
Dont force enougn TOs
too many WR drops
Mond missing a few key throws ( 2 overthrows & 1 one underthrow ) make those three throws and those games are more competitive.

fix those problems and the ags will win at least 3 or 4 down the stretch and keep it close in the losses do that and the ags will get credit for being a good team playing a historically difficult schedule

While the SEC move was called the 100 year decision, it wont take that long to determine if it was best for us.

But we also wont know 8 years after the move (now), or even 12 years. It all really depends on program leadership. Schools that luck into finding that one right leader can forever change the fortunes of their program i.e..Dabo at Clemson. And if that happens, we'll all be happy we're doing it in the SEC.

Now if 25 years from now we're perpetually at 7,8,9 wins with no division titles and haven't even sniffed the playoffs then you might have a case it was not a good move for us as its highly unlikely we woulda gone 25 years in the B12 without winning its conference title and getting to the playoff.

Simply put we aren't going to really know the answer on if it was a good move or not any time soon.

It was never an option to stay in the BDF.... every team that was given an opportunity to leave did. Staying tied to tu is a recipe for long term disaster...everyone knows it.

Not alot of fun running this gauntlet every year. Seems like we would be ranked higher every year if we would have stayed in the b12. I know, makes the regular season more exciting but teams don't seem to be rewarded for strength of schedule.

one thing i don't think get's considered enough is alternative scenarios. remember when the swc died and baylor weasels their way in over the rest in that bunch on pure politics.

i feel much better being the ones on our own out of that conference than to have t.u. be the one to have left first. now when the big12 breaks up, we aren't looking for a new home with the legislature likely hanging ugly step-kids tech and baylor around our neck as part of any destination. definitely glad to longer be stuck with that baggage.

Agree with some of the posts on the long view of the move. As I stated before in this thread, the obsession with the $$$ coming from SEC is silly to me. B10, SEC, and B12 all rake it in. Of course, if given a choice, I'll take more.

But, in the end, the totals are so damn big IDGAS. Win f'ing hardware.

I have to say it, Arkansas' move in 1991 was a failure. Their MBB title happens in SWC or B8. They were LOADED!!!

How many SEC titles in FB have they won? Zero. I think they have played in 2? And that is over a quarter century.

Closest we came to playing in SEC CCG I guess was 2012 though early losses really ended any hopes. IF the schedule was different and we had LSU and Florida at the end of the year, we might have won NC.

That said, weren't we 4th overall that year?

Having a huge game at Kyle vs Bama with 100k in attendance really does not do it for me if we only beat them once per decade. Remind me how that is not the equivalent of Oklahoma State again? Or perhaps worse?

At this pace, we are pinning our hopes to Jimbo outlasting Saban - BTW, I do think this will happen - and then find the magic fairy dust to make a run in the west?

8-4 with 3-4 conference losses simply does not do it for me. One conference title in last 20 years and NOT coming close to a divisional title in SEC is the epitome of average to bad.

At least put our natural rival on the schedule again.

We will never move back due to pride and arrogance, but if we get through this next 5-10 years with nothing to show for it other than lining the pockets of the athletic department so they can add 1000 larger TV's and an XBOX to every locker and pay 3 ex coaches severance...this whole thing was a failure.

In our 16 years in the big 12 we only won 9 or more games 4 times. We are in our 8th year in the SEC and have already had 3 years of 9 or more wins. This narrative that we would win more in the Big 12 doesn't really show in the records.

The move to the SEC is all about re-branding ourselves and getting in front of a wider audience.

In Texas the media always treated us with a dismissive attitude. This permeated the culture around the state and affected our ability to recruit.

Now that we are in the SEC there have been so many from the media outside of Texas who have come down here and have come away saying "man this place is a hidden gem".

Players around the country are starting to see us in a different light and we can now recruit outside of the state of Texas. I would also imagine that we wouldn't have a guy like Demas in the fold if we weren't in the SEC.

The SEC was the right move in every way. We just need the right coaching hire to set it off.

Playing Kansas, Baylor, Iowa State, Ok State, Tech, Kansas State every year was boring.

Give it time boys. We didn't walk into the SEC as world beaters boys.

I like our future outlook.

Man, I don't see that. We are just MSU, Ole Miss, USC, etc. Literally the main personalities of our biggest sugar daddy (ESPN) made fun of us in a viral video.

Only way to respect is to win hardware. We have not sniffed it in SEC. Won division often in 90's. Tied for division in 2010. We aint close in SEC and with 13 other teams, it is a harder climb.

Do you travel to any away games? For that matter, are you even a season ticket holder? I am happy the Aggies got out of the dumpster fire conference and outside the shadows of the sips (remember, Texas A&M "is not their rival" and they encouraged the rest of the conference to not schedule A&M again for any future out of conference games). Even though the SEC "doesn't do it for you", it's incredibly naive to think there hasn't been a huge surge in revenue and national brand recognition since we left the sips and their 9 pals.
