it was more the election. Rating since November have shown that.

You said the same thing on another thread. Ratings were down for 8 of 10 playoff games with the only "success" being a game between 2 of the 3 biggest draws. Election had nothing to do with that. Super Bowl was lowest rated in 4 years.

Down 9% in reg season and 6% playoffs. Hmm, something screams 'it must be something besides the election'. Cord-cutting doesn't explain playoff ratings for games on CBS & Fox.

Fact is there were a shat ton of people who tuned out last year primarily due to not wanting to support millionaire idiots who think they have it so bad. It looks like that will continue.

Of course he got called a "thug" by a couple of posters on this thread because he's black. I don't have to assume anything. I call it as I see it.

He has no history of being involved in violence or a gang. If he was ever involved in that, it never got made public.

So again you are assuming. I agree I don't think he's a thug but I'm not going to claim someone is racist because they call him one.

You keep telling yourself that and you will continue losing more and more viewers.

By turning an escape from politics into a vehicle for lib politics. Supporting that dbag kaepernick, supporting the tran bathroom, and on and on.

Ratings from November have not shown it was the election. Surveys point straight to the new political stances of the nfl

I don't think I watched a single game last year.

I'm so happy that he doesn't claim A&M in his MNF or SNF intros. The university should ban him from ever saying that he attended classes here.

He has a right to express his own opinions.
I definitely don't agree with his action -- I really think it is stupid.

However, in this country, he has that right.

"Thug" is not the descriptive here. A thug is (was) freaking Aaron Hernandez. I would lean more toward "grandstanding dumbass diva". Guys, you're not changing anything. You're making it worse in fact. Race relations have never been perfect by any means, but think about how much progress had been made since your parent's/grandparents generations.......and then poof. Gone in a flash. Everybody deciding they wanted to be victims instead of victors. Everybody *****ing and nobody listening. It's sad. And I'm worried it's irreversible

What evidence do you have that he's a "thug"? I've never seen him that way. A little quirky, opinionated...but thug insinuates guns/drugs/violence/gang.

And yes, protesting this way is stupid, considering you're insulting the only country in the world that would make you a millionaire for being good at football.

You're absolutely right that he's not a thug. He takes care of his business, runs a charity, has three kids with his wife, and has never been arrested. There's nothing at all thug-like about that (quite the opposite in fact. That's model citizen territory).

Now bitter, angry, and not very intelligent with his protesting...? You're gonna have a much harder time convincing me he isn't any of those.

Very disappointed.

I'm not sure they are articulating why they are doing this very well since I still have not seen it explained.

Whatever their message, not honoring those who stand and have died for the freedoms we enjoy is going to carry their message.

It's stupid that the NFL is okay with this. Why don't we let all of the guys do different political statements.
We can have them wear a patch about who they voted for. We could do a Back the Blue head covering. We could do Little Sister's of the poor purple gloves and pink socks for cancer (I know they already do this).

OR, we could play football and try to at least be unified for our teams and our way of life.

We have a long way to go but we have also come so far! Be a part of our imperfect fabric and be part of the solution to make us all better or move to the country that is better than this one.

And his boss has the right to sit his sorry *** on the sideline for every play. or cut him.

I know if I was at an event with my employees and one pulled that stunt, I'd find their replacement.

Not a surprise given his past but NFL players are going to do their best to make it to where no one watches their games.
If you choose not to watch a game because one or more players sit for the national anthem you have problems.

No need to sugarcoat it. He's called a "thug" because he's black. If it was JJ Watt who sat down for the national anthem, you think he be called a "thug"?

WGAS. Every time the media writes a story like this and we click on it we tell them what we are interested in. No clicks. No ratings. No story. It all goes away. He loses the attention he is seeking and will have to find another way to be "shocking."

Actually, if you continue to support a league that lets players protest the national anthem due to racial descrimination under the guise of free speech, yet that same league refused to allow the Dallas Cowboys to show solidarity with the killed DPD officers by way of a helmet sticker, i think you may have a problem.

Despite Hillarys failure, our country is still being snatched from our hands by a bunch of lunatics who want to make my childrens way of life worse than my parents.

This is not some sort of regular country, this is the greatest country in the history of the world, and these sons of *****es wont be happy until it is another european socialist nation on its way to cultural, economic, and religious ruin. Not just Bennet, i'm talking the league, the libs at ESPN, and a whole slew of others.

For the first time since i was 8, i did not watch a single NFL game last year... it had NOTHING to do with the election, and EVERYTHING to do with the NFL allowing the anthem protest but not allowing the Cowboys helmet stickers - they picked a side.

I have no problem never watching them again if need be. If they dont put a kubosh on this, then it will be another season gone for me. (And you know, i dont really even miss it that much).

Football is entertainment. It is a game. Some things are WAAAAAAY more important than a game. If you dont see that, then YOU are the one with problems.

Football is a release or way to get away from what's on all the other channels. If players want to protest during their own time, so be it. But the public display during the anthem is nothing more than an immature, over paid, attention horing idiot trying to gain attention for himself.

Exactly!!!!!!!!!!

I haven't watched an NFL game in years! The attitude, thugness, their antics based on their egos, the amount of look at me attitude, drug using, etc, etc.....and now this!!

Yeah the NFL along with the NBA is worthless.....along with espn

Actually, about one more Baylor or Penn State incident and I may be done.

I'm not trying to be a titty baby, but I was sick to my stomach during the OU game when Mushburger kept going on and on about Mixon.

Only NFL game I've watched in years was a replay of the 4th quarter of last year's Super Bowl watching the great comeback. Outside of that, no NFL or NBA in our house. Tired of being preached at by a midget named Costas and all the PC crap.

Considering that there was just a Nazi-White supremist protest this weekend.... I'd say sitting for the national anthem isn't that bad of a way to protest
