so I would guess the bringing of up to a gallon of water
is out also? This will be great-- get to stand in line for $6
quart of water--

I checked with TWF today specifically about stadium seats. They kindly replied quickly to my e-mail and said that stadium seats may be carried in but to a max width of 16"

The list of prohibited items has not changed. The policy says up to a 1L unsealed bottle of water, but on hot days we will allow gallon jugs. Carry it in your hand and there no problem.

As a season ticket holder this really pisses me off. We spend tons of money on new stadium cost of everything is already going up and now I have to buy a special bag to bring a few items with me to the game for some perceived level of better security? This doesn't do anything for security its just another chance for the university to make some coin on bags while making everyone "feel" better. Gives me more and more reasons to just watch the game from the comfort of my own home.

Making money has never come up as part of the clear bag discussions. There is not need to buy a special bag. Gallon ziplocs will work fine, and we are lining up sponsors to have free disposable bags available on Gamedays for those who are not aware of the policy.

For me it's one more straw on the camel's back, following closely behind being thrown under the bus on seat cost/location and parking location after 30 years of holding season tickets.

It's an inconvenience with little added value.

WTH is the big deal? We already do this when we play in NFL stadiums for Arky, AZ State, or bowl games.

It speeds the lines getting in the stadium and is a minimal cost ($12). Big deal. We can still carry in 1 L of water (or more when it's hot).

Clear bags are a necessary inconvenience to speed up stadium entry or is this a security policy?

What about a camelbak for the hot games or are those out too?

Thanks

Stay tuned for security reaction when clear liquid explosives are detonated somewhere.

A camel back wasn't banned already?

I thought all liquids had to be sealed.

Not for the hot games. You would obviously have to go through the bag line. Security would make sure it wasn't booze, but after that you would be good to go. Camelbak keeps it cold throughout game even in the 4th quarter.

So...here's my question. I take a nephew to all the games that has a peanut allergy. He's not a special snowflake type, this is a real allergy like shellfish allergies, but eating a peanut or nut product will result in a big scene complete with paramedics and ambulance ride to the hospital. Prior to this new policy I would "sneak" in snacks because concession stands are a "no go" as far as finding out reliably if the food is "safe".

The new policy seems to indicate medically necessary items are ok, but I have a feeling this will be a problem when I have crackers, beef jerky, etc for him in my clear bag. I've done this with him at Texas Stadium just explaining quickly and showing them the epipen. Am I going to have an issue at Kyle Field Jason Cook or are we going to apply some common sense at the gates?

Was outside food allowed before the clear bag rule?

Then I don't understand the issue you are raising.

If it's a medical issue, you will be allowed to bring it in

Can't you just put beef jerky in your pockets? People still smuggle booze in, and beef jerky or small snacks seem pretty easy in comparison.

Clearly a quick explanation (and the Epi pen in the clear bag) works at NFL stadiums with this policy, why wouldn't you assume it would work at Kyle?

This isn't a big deal. And it means that the bag line isn't held up by zippered pocket by pocket search of giant bags that end up taking up all the leg room space in the stands.

At the baseball game last weekend, I took in 2 blankets since we would be sitting on the lawn. On the way in, I had to take them out of my bag and shake them out. I understand that what they are trying to do, but I do not see how it is going to speed things up to have everything open and shake everything that might be hiding something. Those cold games are going to be a nightmare if this is the case.

U can carry blankets in on your arm for games you need them as Jason said. You can't fit them in a 10 inch bag anyway.

The advantage of clear bags is security can simply take a quick look rather than dig around in someone's giant bag or have them dump out or shake out the contents. That's what slows things down

If it keeps psychopaths from getting into the arena with a small army's worth of weaponry, I'm okay with this. I'd rather wait than pay a small fortune to die at a game.
Considering you weren't let into the stadium with a bag unless someone looked in it, how can you possibly think that this will change anything. This is reducing the inspections, eliminating people actually looking into bags. How much weaponry can you fit in a bag?

Did you see someone come in with a Hardigg case on wheels? Policy is the policy, but your post is absurd.

Definitely not family friendly. Typical over reaction.
People who expect the entire world to bend over backwards and cater to them with a "family friendly" environment are usually the first to over react.

Please tell us how this is not "family friendly?" Can't fit your Cheerios and other smuggled snacks in a plastic bag of that size? Then leave your whiny kids at home; no one else wants them in the stadium.

Shut up. Everyone buys their own ticket for separate reasons. No one needs your opinions on what to do with their money.

Just the kind of mature and thoughtful reply I would expect from you.

If you're so easily triggered by opinions you may want to kindly **** off. You sound exactly like the whiny kid who should be left at home.

What are the clear bags supposed to help prevent in these times? Nobody is brining in a gun in a backpack. They are going to carry it concealed on their person. If you want to help reduce weapons you need metal detectors.
I know this isn't just an A&M decision, but to pretend this is going to help safety is silly.

If people are concerned about lines, they could always get to the gate earlier instead of 10 minutes before kickoff.

And just because everyone else is doing it doesn't make it the right thing to do.

Clear bags make it more difficult to smuggle in dangerous things. Nothing can prevent every possible danger, and the school doesn't claim this will

This will definitely reduce my shopping for the kids before the game. I usually use game days to stock up on aggie gear for myself and the kids, then take the bags with me into the game, but this will now be impossible.

Maybe SpreadsheetAg can calculate the approximate lost bookstore revenue. I can assure you that I'm not gonna mule my purchases back to the car before the game. I'll still make the games - just without my stash of overly beveled apparel from the bookstore. Their loss.

It looks like it is a SEC-wide implementation for what it's worth.
