100,00+ people all over campus. The line at the gate isn't the only place where people are easy targets.

Definitely the most dense however. Even more so than inside the stadium and certainly more than tailgate areas.

No purses seems like a disaster.

My thoughts exactly. A few years ago someone called in a bogus bomb threat to campus. Campus was quickly evacuated; however, everyone congregated just off campus. This created small areas of highly dense population which would end up being much easier targets for a bomber or active shooter. This only created the opportunity for a much worse outcome.

Unless you have a child with you, I don't get why you need a purse for a damn football game.

And they need to ban abusing parents from bringing newborn to 5 year old children. Especially the idiots in September games!

Also, does this new rule cover cargo shorts? Need to figure out if I need to find a new way to carry the 6 dollars in change that I like to have on me at all times.

If it keeps psychopaths from getting into the arena with a small army's worth of weaponry, I'm okay with this. I'd rather wait than pay a small fortune to die at a game.

More publicity on this subject is better. Overcommunicating a major change like this is very helpful.

I'm neutral on the idea other than noting that the amount of "stuff" someone brings in affects everyone around the person including their own personal comfort. It's a balance. I'd note that a regular gallon ziplock-style clear, transparent bag is clearly acceptable. You can buy them at practically every grocery store and Wal-mart. For a more fancy-shmancy bag:

And for one with a logo:

or more specifically an A&M logo:

Probably got tired of people thinking the rules don't apply to them. Nothing warns my heart like getting someone kicked out of Kyle cause they think they are a special flower and the rules don't apply to them.

Have any of you been paying attention the last two days?
So they just shoot up the crowd at the gate as opposed to the crowd in the stadium. Some of us aren't fear mongering illogical idiots...

We live in a %$@#ed up world now. I'm shocked it's taken this long for this policy to be implemented. I will gladly be inconvenienced for more safety.

Also, some of y'all are pretty big d*&^heads when you can't handle your liquor so if this makes you less of a *&^#head at games then bring on the clear bags.

This is ****ing stupid. If you want ***es in seats, this is a great way to put them on couches and in recliners. After all the crap with concessions last year, and now this, is evident that the AD is trying to make the gameday experience as ****ty as possible.

So a terrorist is less likely to get a gun into the stadium with clear bags? Not buying it. Not as long as high school drop outs are checking people's bags on the way in and there are no metal detectors/body scans. If you can still sneak a flask in, you can still get a gun in. This policy is not about safety it's about selling concessions.

Ding ding ding

Any terrorist with an ounce of sense would shoot everyone at the gate waiting to get their clear bad rummaged through instead of going into the stadium. This has nothing to do with safety and everything to do with concessions.

A search for "bag" and then for "clear" did not result in a compliant bag. I would humbly suggest that waiting until you're on campus to purchase--as opposed to buying on line or locally--could result in a measure of disappointment. It's why I believe this needs to be overcommunicated.

Could be any manner of issues from rapid ingress to safety in the stands to fan comfort. It isn't entirely cynical to wonder if it improves revenues. But part of the purpose of the Kyle rebuild is to improve revenue.

While this will cause some confusion initially, it seems like clear bags would actually end up making wait times in line much shorter. It's a lot faster to glance at the contents of a clear bag than to rummage through the six different compartments of someone's purse/satchel.

Concessions were never part of the discussions, neither at the school nor conference level.

We are trying to get people in the stadium quickly and keep everyone as safe as possible.

Approved bags available:
Barnes&Noble, Texas A&M's official merchandise partner, has approved clear bags for purchase at the 12th Man Shop in Kyle Field's northwest tower or online at http://www.12thmanshop.com/product.aspx?id=4227&cat=21

I think the discourse stems from the fact that many of us believe this is really about perceived safety. This does nothing to prevent an active shooter scenario on gamedays. It may reduce the risk while in the stadium;however, the greater risk is outside for tailgating, queueing at the gates, and walking away from the game when it is over. When you look at terrorist incidents in the recent past, they either A) shoot / waltz into an establishment I.E. Orlando, Paris or B) attack on public transport, outside restaurants, other other publicly accessible areas with high population density. A clear bag will not stop any of these scenarios.

How excatly does this make anyone safer? Gameday is a bunch of people congregated in one area no matter how much "security" is added. This is an inconvenience, nothing more.

Jason, I am a diabetic battling peripheral neuropathy (diabetic nerve pain) and I must keep my legs and feet as warm as possible, I wear long pants and cover with a blanket 24/7 (I am retired). Even during summertime, I have to keep covered up to try to keep the pain down as best as possible. I keep a blanket (to cover my legs) in my game day bag, as well as diet Dr. Pepper, insulin and sugar free snacks.

This will be my last season as a ticket holder after almost 20 years, going to a game and leaving at the half with severe pain does not sound appealing. Thanks, this policy change made my decision easy....
