Howdy, TexAgs!

By now, you may have seen in the media the announcement that A&M is launching a $4 billion comprehensive campaign, the Lead by Example campaign. To put that in perspective, only UCLA among public universities have announced a larger goal. The purpose of this campaign is to bring real world solutions to the great global challenges of our time as only Aggies can. The combination of academic excellence and the core values and traditions that differentiate A&M from every other university in the country uniquely position A&M to solve problems. It's what Aggies do.

In the coming days, weeks, and months, you'll learn more about how we intend to do that, and how you can participate. We look forward to you joining the movement, to Lead by Example.

In the meantime, as a part of the campaign launch, we are conducting a full stadium card stunt. It will be the largest card stunt ever conducted, in a stadium, in the world.

This is an example of what Minnesota did for a card stunt at one of their football games:

As you arrive to your seats, you will find the cards wrapped in plastic. We will do the card stunt right after the Aggie Band performance. Instructions are on the cards, and announcements will be made throughout the game. When the time comes, the announcer will give direction, and there will be people on the field giving cues when to do the stunt. It should be a spectacular visual. When the stunt has ended, feel free to take the cards home as a memento of having participated in this event, or if you choose not to, please help the clean up crews by disposing of the card and the plastic in the extra trash receptacles provided.

This is a huge moment for Texas A&M. We know how great a university this is. It's time for the world to know. I hope you'll be willing to participate in this great event.

Thank you, Gig 'em!

So I am suppose to hold a sign up, that I don't know what it's going to say, all in the name of a campaign that I don't know what it funds...

Wellllllll sign me up!!

I'll do my best to answer questions leading up to the event. The A&M logo and Lead by Example will figure prominantly in what it says. It is a pro-A&M message supporting the themes of the campaign. The video that will play just before the card stunt will provide a significant hint at what it will say. Beyond that, how about we leave a little for the surprise factor?

How about some honesty? The cloak and dagger skit is wearing thin. Besides, the website is pretty vague about "the real world" issues.

Speaking of clean-up, I hope you mean receptacles. You might scare away some of your potential clean-up crew if you start adding fractions into the equation.

I helped set up the stunt. It's kicking off a fundraising campaign for the university. It says "If not us, then who?" and "Lead by example" with a couple of aTm logos thrown in on the sides.

Uh, no. If you can't tell me what I'm participating in then I'm not participating. Would you, Mark Klemm, agree to tweet out any message that TexAgs comes up with for you to tweet? You certainly wouldn't agree to that without knowing what the message was first. Why would you expect us to do the same? You want us to be a pawn in your marketing campaign without giving us the respect of knowing what our role in your game is.

If the message is a generic pro-Aggie, or even pro-military message then I think everyone would be on board... but to be used as a publicity stunt is a pretty unattractive idea to me. Then add in the fact that you won't even tell us what publicity stunt we're shills for makes me want to go beyond not participating and actively encourage others not to participate as well.

Yall are always talking about what will get us the most exposure, and something comes along, that if done correctly, will be all over social media, the internet, and tv, and will give us tons and tons of exposure that recruits will most definitely notice, and yall are *****ing about it

My Twitter feed is full of this **** too. Stop being so vague about the campaign and the card stunt. If they really want to raise $4billion, this is no way to go about it.

Yeah! Sit there and pout because they didn't let you open your Christmas presents early! That'll show them!

He was pretty direct that this is going to be a pro-A&M message to get the word out about the new capital campaign. You've got to leave part of it a surprise to give people something to look forward to and try to inject some excitement. It's hype. If it's all drawn out, then it loses a lot of the appeal... You know what a book is about. Do you want to know exactly how the story is going to end? No?

This is just a fun little promotion. Of course, for all of you never-happy "angry ags" that are incapable of excitement, it's yet another thing that you can complain about. I feel sad that you are incapable of enjoying yourself...

This.

I already think the campaign is a joke and an abuse of the Aggie Network.

What is everyone's issue with this??

It has been stated it's a Pro A&M message for a Lead By Example campaign. If you know anything about the campaign and their goal, why would you not want to be apart of this message and participate in it. Some of you will ***** about anything and everything I swear.

That's the problem, this isn't being done correctly. This isn't giving exposure to Texas A&M or Aggie Football. It's giving exposure to a mysterious fundraiser. You think recruits get pumped about mysterious fundraisers?

If everyone knew what is was going to say, I'm not sure anyone would be complaining. However, trying to be less than forthcoming about what will be said it why people are questioning the motives.
