Different situation. He tried to put sumlin on the spot like he ran things. Sumlin had bigger decisions to make for our program. The maner in which he acted warrants no dialogue with anyone on our staff.

I really don't see why a 10-15 minute call wouldn't hurt. Especially if Sumlin and Chavis did it together and were straight forward and to the point. Within 5 minutes you can get a read or not if the kid really is rethinking anything.

Coach Sumlin's Executive Secretary: "Hello, Mr. Malik?

Malik: "Uh, uh, yeah, uh who dis?"

Secretary: "Coach Sumlin is on the line. Please hold." (sound of FTAB music in background).

Malik holds for over three minnutes before line clicks and goes dead. Secretary does not call him back - ever.

I dont think that he acted like a primadonna. He just made his decision for all of the wrong reasons. You cant really blame him. However, you could say the same thing about Zay Henderson last year. If Sumlin wouldnt have kept trying, the Ags wouldnt have flipped him. I dont believe it is over until it is over when it comes to recruiting. You have to always try to poach others crop of talent and realize that they are trying to do the same with your recruits.

Nothing has been finalized. He can back out all the way up to the last day of school, and let's consider TU for a moment............ .................. ........................ finished? he has a potential future there, but things look much much better for Texas A&M right now than for the Sips.

True, his quote was probably a jab at Kyle Allen or another TAMU commit, he said "Don't go anywhere that you can't develop as a man and a football player".


However part of being a man is owning up to your mistakes, maybe he wants to go that route?

Though I can understand the primadonna statements toward Malik, Ive coached against the kid for 2 years and he IS actually a pretty good kid. He hadnt committed to us, and then changed his mind...
I do think that he's made his decision and should stay true to his word. Having said that, if he changes his mind i wouldnt be upset, lol.
Now, Mack on the other hand...thats the one Id be worried about. He HAD committed to us, and then decided to turn "attenton *****" as soon as Jefferson publicly chose t.u. He IS a typical "dumb 18 yr old", but I wouldnt trust him at all.

We need him if he wants to be here. None of you have ever changed your mind? At age 18? For your Mom? I was the wishy washiest teenager ever. He seems like a good kid - one that has lots of talent & enthusiasm for the game.
