One of my great uncle's spurs. Clodius 'Bud' McCollum. He never got to wear his boots and spurs. Uncle Sam needed him more so instead of graduating, he flew bombers over Germany.

His flight crew photo. He is the 2nd from the left.

Many years later, his wife called the school to see if he had enough hours to qualify for a ring. He had enough but he turned down the offer because he felt it wasn't right to wear a ring since he didn't graduate from TAMC. Classy.

How about a memory.

I was sacked by the great Billy Hobbs in the middle of #6 fairway of La Paloma Golf Club in Amarillo, TX.

Never heard him coming, hit me like a ton of bricks, and laughed all the way back to hit his shot.

He let my wife wear his Superbowl Ring one night at Muster. I couldnt, but she could.

God has a good one, I sure miss him.

My best regards,

Stump

in 1998 I went to the bonfire heap that was still smoldering with a jar and collected ash and some spikes. Had no idea at the time, of course, I was collecting the last on campus bonfire ash.

From the 1999 tu game I have my 12th man towel. I wrote the names of every Aggie who passed on that towel.

Southwest Conference baseball that was the first pitch of the 1986 season (Aggies vs Pan American). We went on the win the SWC that year. Ball was fouled to the upper deck, 3rd base side, right to me. Back then the Diamond Darlings always came to retrieve the foul balls in the stands. It was a very cold windy day and very few were in the upper deck. I placed the ball on the seat next to me the entire game. No one came to get...I guess the Diamond Darlings were too cold that day to come up to the second level. Game ended, ball went in my pocket and came home with me. Also have toy cars that Billy Hobbs gave to my autistic son following a mission trip to Brazil where my son had sent one of his toy cars with me to give to a poor child in Brazil. My dear brother-in-Christ Billy was touched by that simple gesture and wanted to give a special gift to my little guy. Also treasure my 1985 12th Man towel (the first year we had them).

I have an old sarge tee shirt from 1986. I bought it the year I graduated.Don't remember where I bought it but must say it fit until Covid.

Fanatic I didn't read your post until after I posted so I'll add this as my coolest Aggie memorability. Some broke college friends of mine went out and collected ashes from that last bonfire and gave ash filled jars as gifts. I remember being touched by the thought but had no idea of the significance at that time.

Small piece of Kyle Field artificial turf (circa '86) ... large rolls of the old turf were on the surface of the field before replaced with new artificial turf).

Cotton balls that were floating from the upper decks at the end of the '85 game vs. tu.

A like new New Era aTm (no bevel) baseball cap purchased at Northgate's Wyatt's ("Home of the A&M cap") ... wore it maybe twice ... that wool cap shrunk prob 3 sizes.

Bonfire wood scrap from working on Stack when Bonfire was at Duncan Field.

A brick from razed Law Hall ... FUP!

I won one of our black A&M helmets like we wore against MSST in 2012 through a raffle at our local A&M club steak cook off about 5-6 years ago. I thought that was a really cool prize, then I realized it was signed by Von Miller following his Super Bowl MVP.
