I'm not sure what his plans are as far as when and how long he'll be there.

Logistically for me, it's super easy, but we'll see what I can pull off.

I know you are looking at bandera, but you should consider the black canyon double. A lot of cocodona runners do the 100k/60k on back to back days.

The 100k is already sold out for black canyon. I wanted to do another 100 in March sometime though. I'm also thinking about going to do some back to backs in Arkansas. I'm obviously still figuring out what the hell I'm doing, but I'm feeling good.

Wish I could give you my spot for athens big fork, bc I'm not going to be able to go, once again. I don't think they allow transfers bc it's a no cost event anyway. It's only a marathon, but is like 7K feet of climb.

We aren't going to WI for the holidays, but of course K picked a tune up race that weekend for Sean Obrien. And she gets full priority for putting up with the rest of my year.

Looking like pretty good weather for Dino Valley. I just saw that there's new parking this year and you have to be shuttled to the start. Don't be late!

It does look nice, I'm looking forward to running (even though I'm only running the 25K). Two of my friends are running the 100K, so I may pace if they need it.

Are you running it this year?
Consistency: It's only a virtue if you're not a screw-up.

Nah. I did the 50k last year. Too many loops for the longer distances for me.

Ok, so I ran the Dinosaur Valley 25K and managed to run well on what was a tougher than expected course. Won my AG and ran below 2:50 (my stretch goal, I'm old haha).

Had an absolute blast and am glad my ankles are still in one piece. There's some challenging terrain on that course.

Been bad about posting new videos here, but here's our most recent update. We changed the format a bit.

Pales to comparison to most posts on here, but I'm running a 10k trail run this Saturday in Tempe. I've done only one before and it was fun. I've been wanting to do a 25k but haven't been able to due to life (family, work, injuries). I'd like to do the Piney Woods one in September this year.

Did the Dino 100k; way rockier than I I expected. Been battling injuries but finished in 13:58 which felt decent all things considered. Got pretty lucky with the weather - even if could have been a touch cooler!

That's why the thread is trail & ultra running, not the ultra thread. Doesn't have to be anything crazy.
Just enjoy time on the trails!

That 10k was a lot of fun! After a mile I realized any target pace was out of the window. It was very hilly (for what I'm used to) with nearly 700' gain over the 6ish miles. Very rocky and I found myself staring way more intently on the ground in front of me compared to what I was used to. I didn't want to wipe out on the decents! The front two guys ran away from the field, so I ran the second half pretty much solo, which was nice to just hear the sound of my steps on the ground. Definitely more interested in a longer distance where I can settle into a more comfortable pace and not be redlining the whole time.

I know what you mean. As soon as I stop paying attention to every step, sure enough I'll roll an ankle.

Excited to be stateside this winter. Headed to northern Arkansas next week for my first ultra (35 mi) at the Spirit of Syllamo. There's always more I could have done to prepare (like more gym time) but I feel pretty ready!

I've heard great things about Spirit of Syllamo! Its been on my "list" for a long time, but its never worked out to fit the schedule! Please report back!

So I just registered for the Cody Peak 50K in Jackson Hole, Wyoming (July 2025). It looks pretty rough and is considerably more altitude/elevation than my previous 50K (Silverton Alpine), but I'm excited!

Anyone here run it? If so, any advice?
