Did week 4 day 1 today. Finished up at 2.26 miles according to nike+ but it was reading low last week and forgot to calibrate it today. Avg pace 14:16 and it wasn't near as hard as I thought it would be even running with one of my dogs.

Week 2, Day 1 complete. Actually ended up doing an extra interval at the beginning due to technical difficulties with my jog log ap.

Calves felt like sand weights were attached to them and I slowed the pace down a little to make sure I was going to be able to finish. Ended up doing 0.3 mi. before I had to restart the workout. Did 1.66 mi. after the restart.

Still trying to figure out how I want to time my workouts this week/next week to make sure I get them in even with Christmas travel, etc.

As for 5Ks on the horizon, we're thinking about doing the Fort Worth Zoo Run on April 21 but registration isn't yet open.

I'm having the same issue tamu. I set a goal to run 12 times in 4 weeks, but I've an insane 2 1/2 weeks since I set that goal. Luckily I am only 2 runs behind being on target, but I am about to take off to S. Texas for a few days then coming back. I will likely meet my goal within 3 or 4 days though which is close enough considering the circumstances.

Squeezed in Week 2, Day 2 this evening. Wanted to allow myself enough time for one more run on Thursday morning before leaving town.

Question though - has anyone experienced calf pain during/after running? It was a little sore during running, then really started hurting during and after the cool down walk. Pain is on the lower, inside part of both calves. Any ideas/suggestions?

Do you stretch after each run? How does your foot hit the ground? What quality are your shoes?

For me calf pain is a sign that I'm pushing off, which I shouldn't be. I follow the chi runninng technique that calls for a mid foot strike with the foot under the body. Running with sore calves is actually a good way for me to check my form.

I try to stretch a little after each run, but I also know that I should be doing more of it. The soreness just started this week, so that's when I started trying to stretch after the run - especially the calves and hamstrings.

I'm not entirely sure how my foot hits the ground, but I think I'm a bit of a heel striker and I have REALLY flat feet.

Shoes are good. Got them (Brooks Beasts) about 3 months ago from The Runner in Arlington. Have walked a lot in them, but no running miles until the last couple weeks.

Will see how tomorrow's run goes and then I'll have a longer break until I run next week. Hopefully its just my body adjusting to getting into the whole running thing...

Proof that C25K works: Last night, I ran the Jingle Bell Run and am currently on week 6 of the program (only ran that first long 20 min run last Thursday!). Ran with a friend and we finished in 39 minutes, never stopping to walk. Her pace was a little slower than my norm, but the whole point was to try a race out and finish together. Loved every minute of it!! It's crazy to think that 6 weeks ago, I could barely finish the minute runs. We're switching the Cowtown to a 10k and bridging the training over.

Congrats! I managed to pick up a cold so I'll probably hold off on the workouts until this weekend. Thinking I'll redo one of the week two workouts and if it goes well I'll press on with week three.

There's a few free couch to 5k podcasts out there on iTunes. I'm using one at the moment and it's pretty good.

I've got a couple of the other apps as well, usually run them over RunKeeper. However, since I'm on the treadmill for this round the podcast is fine.

I got the couch to 5k app for iPhone for $0.99. I think it's still on sale.

I hope to start it within the next 2 weeks. I made it to week 5 about 2 months ago and stopped. I want to finish it this time.

I've got week 3 day 2 scheduled for this evening.

Just a tip for people using the 5k runner app - if you leave the app to change a song or anything else, make sure you go back to the app as it may not give the voice prompt to run/walk if the 5k is not the active app.

With the holidays over and back at home, I'm going to get back on track starting tomorrow morning. I think I'm going to redo days 2 and 3 of Week 2 this week and then continue with Week 3 next week.

Welcome! We've got a nice little group growing! I'm finishing up week 7 tomorrow. The last few weeks are straight running, but I think once you break through that Week 5 Run 3, you realize "I know I can run 20, what's 5 more minutes?" The first one back after the Christmas weekend was a little tough, but hopefully it's smooth sailing from here.
