My understanding is power boost is an eco boost with an electric motor between the engine and transmission. Is this worth the additional complexity wrt driving the truck or is it mostly a source of electrical power, aka a generator.

Trying to decide between the two in this time when i don't want to but sort of need to buy a truck

I have been seriously considering buying my first pickup ever, partly because I like the powerboost engine and related power outlets in the bed and generator function. I drove one recently and it is pretty quick for a pickup. It will keep up with a Raptor on a paved street but get much better mileage.
