How long do you want to ignore this user?
So, apparently as last "recipient", it's my job to pick the next victim honoree. I decided on another old fart, but one who seems to have a lot more cool toys than me.

And by the way, I'm confused. If it's "Getting To Know You", what's the extra "N"?

Let's hear it, Yucc.

How old were you when you first discovered your passion for vehicles?

About 8. Go Karts. My dad and I built one but it took a coupla years. I put two McCullough chains saw engines on it. At 10, my dad had consulting work in Europe and took me to Le Mans for the 24 hours. 1963. I cannot explain the emotion of being there and seeing it. A complete visceral experience in sight, sound and gear headedness. NOTHING will ever come close to those memories in my car world.

Would you ever lower a truck?

No. I usually need more ground clearance and not less.

What's your preferred jam while hoonage ensues?

Alan Holdsworth 'Road Games',

What's your typical Whataburger order?

Breakfast tacos when I was on the road in the oil bidness and in a hurry. Hate to think how many I have eaten over my career.

How do you like your steak cooked?

A thick Ribeye charred rare is hard to beat. Butter seared red deer venison backstrap will edge it at the line.

If you were to build a sleeper with a typical budget, what vehicle would you use and what power plant would you use?

I built an Austin Healey 3000 with a 'very leaned on' 350 small block in high school/college. I'm thinking about a built LSX in my BMW 850 because the stock V12 is such a POS. Unfortunately, most of the electronics, suspension and interior are too (I've replaced damn near the entire suspension with aftermarket components)....but I love the looks, and it autobahns like a champ.

I'm a small block person by nature, but behind the times in what's out there now. I have always wanted to build a small block early model Nova. That could happen.

What state would you reside in if you weren't able to live in Texas?

Nirvana. I'm here and dug in. Vacations give me my fill of other states and countries. Usually reach my perfect moment within 10 days, and then I book a flight back to Texas.

Most f'ed up car/driving story of your life?

Hmmm. I've never actually been arrested. I have been advised by my gonzo attorney to leave it at that. But it did involve an extremely fast street rod, another person with a gun, his friends with a coupla pair of nunchaku, some non-arterial bleeding, significant projectile vomiting, a brief on the fly disposal of a minor amount of a green controlled substance, and the 'eluding' of three police vehicles. Learnings?: Choose your passengers carefully.

Favorite/least favorite beer?

Favorite: currently Guinness...favorites change often.
Least Favorite: Anything warm. Especially Schaefer Light.

Drink of choice?

Tequila. Jose Cuervo Family Reserve extra anejo. Man that **** is good.

What do you want your next vehicle to be?

Porsche 917-30K. But I would settle for a Ferrari 275 GTB 4 cam.

How many JCI chili cheese dogs can you eat in one sitting?

On advice of legal counsel, I again must plead the fifth.

Which car do you want to shove off a cliff?

It's a thin line between love and hate. I can't get very emotional about brands and models I don't own. The 550 and the 850 both compete for this emotion. Every car I have truly loved I have wanted to douse in gasoline and set ablaze at some point.

In your opinion, what is the absolute worst modification that can be done to a vehicle?

I've seen so many cut springed stance vehicles with absurd camber lately that it is fresh in my mind. Diesel truck with no bed, raised while running about 15 degrees of negative camber with the entire 20" automobile rim and street tire running significantly outside the fenders qualifies, no?

3 favorite car related activities?

Driving/tracking the Ariel is right up there.
Loading up my Sprinter with 4 sport bikes and driving to California with friends to go riding is right up there....listening to tunes while driving non-stop cross country. Love the desert on the way.
Driving the Ferrari through a long tunnel on full chat: That Tubi exhausted V 12 sounds old school good.
Steve Martin defined the best car related activity right before he crashed.

Preferred city for getting crunk?

Austin, Hissss.

Origin of user name?

I'ma big fan of succulents.

Rural CS.

Occupation?

Retired. Former engineer in oil and gas E&P.

I used to tell my friend with an 850 that it really wasn't a V12 in the car. It was an inline 6 with a spare engine already mounted, ready to go.

Retirement for me = playing hard doing what I want. I spend as much or more time in the pastures/garden than on cars or motorcycles lately.

It is two sixes running on a common crankshaft, with separate electronic systems/ECU's. Dumb all over. Torque down low works with a car that piggish. If you want to spend the money, they lean on em at a coupla build shops. $20K for a 440 HP 550 ft-lb BMW V12. Things probably a damn hand grenade, but they have some 600 HP if you wanna pony up $60K.

I want to tell a little story on Yucc that Automotive Board will appreciate. Yucc and I have a very good common friend and we've been known to each other and friends for a few years.

From about 2004-2010, before the kids got bigger and busier, I was a principal in a standing tailgate party at Aggie football games. We converted a short bus to a tailgate rig in a "Monster Garage" type project and partied hard in front of the Heep Center. The group started small but through the years got bigger and bigger and the regulars were a really good group of friends known to each other through other friends. Yucc was a regular - a regular who would show up in the conveyance de jour each week.

This was pointed out one Saturday when Yucc came by the tailgate on the way to or from the track with a trailer that had a couple bikes in it. We were all ogling the bikes with the back doors open when my 'over served' cousin, with his ultra dry sense of humor stumbles up and peeks inside. He draws back quickly and looks at Yucc and says -

"Yucc, you F'er, I've seen you at least 20 times at things and you've never driven the same damn thing twice. Now you're hauling them up here 2-3 at a time. How G' damn many cars and bikes do you have?"

We all laughed, because we were all thinking it, even if none of us had said it. Good guy, Yuccadoo is.
