Sweetness, here's the first 5:

How old were you when you first discovered your passion for vehicles?
I've always been a "Car Guy" and have enjoyed learning how thingswork. Would help my dad with oil changes and DIY fixes ("here, hold the light") but wouldn't say I really got into wrenching on cars until I bought a house and had a garage last summer. Since then, I've made it my mission to never pay for another car repair (a la Dubis) and really like learning how to take care of vehicles myself.

Would you ever lower a truck?
Not lower/slammed, but I see the appeal of leveling a truck.

What's your preferred jam while hoonage ensues?
Pretty much anything by Avici, The XX, etc.

What's your typical Whataburger order?
2 BBQ chicken strip sandwiches or GTFO

How do you like your steak cooked?
Depends on the steak, medium for a filet, medium rare for sirloin/NY strip. But meat is meat so I'll eat it pretty much any way you cook it.

This is interesting and I've toyed around with a few ideas for when I'm not a lolpoor.
  • A boosted Lincoln LS V8 is up there
  • A V-8 Datsun 240 (not exactly a "sleeper" as it looks pretty sporty)
  • A Stage 2/3 Mazdaspeed 6/Legacy Spec.B/Legacy GT wagon (because wagons don't get any respect) with forged internals, bigger turbo would be fun too
  • An Audi Allroad 4.2 if I could get a second job to keep up with the crazy maintenance

What state would you reside in if you weren't able to live in Texas?
Charleston, SC for sure

Most f'ed up car/driving story of your life?
Oh man. So for whatever reason, my parents thought giving me my late grandpa's 5.4 V-8 Supercab Fiddy was a good idea. Back in the summer of 2008 my brother (who had a broken arm at the time) and I were headed to the mall to do hoodrat suburban things. Right before we pulled out of our subdivision I said the famous last words, "hey bro, watch this". I proceeded to floor the truck while accelerating and turning left onto a divided highway. The steering wheel was in full-lock to the left. Well, the back end came flying out. I attempted to opposite-lock it like a Fast and Furious Tokyo Drift, but I ended up just over-correcting and instead of shooting the car into the median, I drove it into a drainage ditch. Luckily in my panic I locked the brakes up so the airbags didn't deploy.

Once it settled in the ditch (completely perpendicular, mind you) I proceeded to freak out (my bro screamed like he was a girl, I still give him a hard time), and told my brother, "run, let's just run home and tell my dad someone stole it!" Well I realized very quickly that someone stealing my dad's truck from the garage while we were both home would seem highly unlikely. I called my dad, dropped about 30 F-bombs, and waited until he and the cops showed up. I got chewed out by the cop who told me "there could have been a child in that drainage ditch", got off without a ticket, and had a local neighbor yank the truck out of the ditch for free. All in all, it was a $1600 lesson (I think my dad shopped around for the most expensive bumper replacement he could find). $1600 to a 17 y/o working at McDonalds is about 3 months of part-time work in case you were wondering.

I still joke with my family about that time I almost killed a child in that drainage ditch

Favorite/least favorite beer?
Tend to stay away from alcohol for personal reasons, but my dad always liked Guinness so I'll go with that.

Drink of choice?
Nothing like a good cup of fresh-ground french-press coffee

What hood did you grow up in? 5th Ward? South Houston? If it had been dead hookers, I'd know it was Acres Homes.

Our HPD son patrols in Acres Homes occasionally. Just last week there was a 911 call cuz the guy woke up to a girl trying to cut off his junk.

What do you want your next vehicle to be?
I have no idea. It changes often... I think a hot-hatch/quick wagon of some kind, GTI, Speed3, WRX hatch, or FoST. Something practical, affordable, and cheap to maintain myself.

How many JCI chili cheese dogs can you eat in one sitting?
I'm going to say 4-5 at least. Would have to appropriately prepare for the aftermath, of course.

Which car do you want to shove off a cliff?
Pretty much all crossover/SUVs that are FWD and basically scream "we didn't want to get a minivan so we got a minivan without sliding doors and is called an Edge/CR-V/Rav-4"

Those or base-model luxury cars like 528is, or IS 250s.

In your opinion, what is the absolute worst modification that can be done to a
vehicle?
Spoilers/wings on FWD cars, aftermarket wheels/lights/audio systems that cost more than the vehicle, tow hooks, coffee can exhausts, lowered Subarus. I could go on.

3 favorite car related activities?
Fixing that thing that you didn't think you could fix and saving $$
Hooning
Wash, wax on, wax off

When my uncle got promoted to Captain with HFD, he was stationed in Acres Homes off of Little York. He told me holidays would often have 2 calls to the same address throughout the day. The first call would be due to somebody getting their ass beat by a family member and needing to go to the hospital, and the second call would come later after the one whose ass was beat shot or stabbed the other for revenge. Fun times in the hood.

Klein Oak represent. Plenty of ditches around there to get your truck stuck in. At least there used to be.

Doh, skinny guy w/ a big wad of dip in his mouth. First thing he said to me was, "Am I what you call a bad day?" But I was so distracted by the dip in his mouth that I didn't hear him so he had to repeat himself. Kind of ruined his image I think.
