The regular Falcon comes in probably about 5 different trim levels. The higher end ones being the XR6 (starts around $40,000 AUD), the XR6 Turbo and the XR8. I looked at an XR8 when I first came here (end of 2007). If I could have gotten it in a Blue colour called "Bionic" (the same shade as my old Laguna Seca Blue BMW), I might have bought one, but they had already quit making that colour by then.

After the regular Falcons (XR8s top out around $50,000 AUD), there are the FPV (Falcon Performance Vehicle) models which go up from there. And, have horsepower starting at 300+ and go up to 500+. I don't have any FPV pix yet, but I'll get some.

Falcons and FPVs also come in Ute models, so look for some of those.

Here's an XR6 Falcon in the colour appropriately called "Toxic".

Holy moly, are they rwd? Have 4.6 or 5.4...supercharged?

Seriously a 4.0L Inline 6 for the base engine, with a turbo 4.0L I6 and a 5.4L V8 optional, 261,361hp, and 388hp respectively. This is the kind of engine options I want to see in the US. The I6 is the next best thing to an V8.

In honour of Texas Independence Day, I give you a fellow Houston Astros fan. Imagine my surprise pulling up behind this guy at a stoplight in Australia.

Do you run into a lot of Americans down under? Or, do they simply like our teams, schools?

BigRob - I don't run into too many Americans down here on a daily basis. If I go over to Manly, or Circular Quay (pronounced Key), I'll see American tourists every day. I haven't been to Bondi the entire time I've been here but I suspect the same would be true there.

Now, on the kids Softball Team, we do have a girl who is 1/2 American. Same story on the Soccer team. And we run into lots of Aussies who have been to "America". The TV Programs here are about 1/4 Aussie, 1/4 British and about 1/2 American. The Sports on TV are about 80% Aussie, 10% European and 10% American. If you have "PayTV" (Cable), you can get NHL and MLB. On regular TV, they'll show lots of NFL games live on Monday morning (think about the time difference). Sometimes they'll show NBA games and golf (especially if there's an Aussie player doing well). Oh yeah, they show lots of NASCAR delayed by one week.

They don't have too much American sports team gear except for NY Yankees caps. The funniest thing I see is the fake American faux vintage t-shirts. Kansas City, Nebraska and my favorite - "Houston Raptors 1988 Division Champions".

BTW - Walter, I've been an Astros fan since I was about 7 years old so I've known lots of pain and suffering. Glad to see Hampy is coming back. I saw him pitch one of the last games in "The Dome" before he and I both moved to Colorado where we both floundered. He just made more money doing it.

Back to the cars. How about a Dually Ford Van?
