Traffic cams in southern Florida are picking up tornadoes. Wouldn't that be about a *****? Trying to evacuate the hurricane and get stuck in traffic, only to have a tornado land on your ass.

A few minutes ago on the Naples cam, I watched a guy come out with a chair hanging from one hand and an obviously heavy backpack hanging from his other hand. He disappeared under the pier.

Very slippery… he's an idiot but he has the right to be an idiot, so long as he isn't breaking any laws (which he isn't to my knowledge), without fear of government intervention.
I'm not sure either, the issue is then that you have to have responders around, and in danger themselves, to keep tabs on the lunatics that refuse to listen to orders. Frankly, they should just be left alone and told, if they do not evac there will be no help coming for them for days. Too often people just don't believe what they're being told and by the time they're finding out, it's way way way too late to save them. ****'em, let them die if they're too stupid to live.

Sometimes you cannot save people from themselves.
Not one single resource should be devoted to that guy at this point.
Once they declare it a certain type of evacuation zone, I belive theyve said you are on your own. Not sure why they would devote time to removing him at this point.
Even if its 1-2 officers that have to wrangle him out of that thing, their time is best spent doing value added activities.

Check the roads...no traffic this morning. If you were a Tampa, Sarasota or Ft. Myers resident, early today was the perfect time to evacuate rather than joining the madhouse of 48 hours ago. And best move for a lot would probably be south to Miami for Ft. Lauderdale.
Roads still gonna be a mess with all the naders popping up.
Meh. Had you been prepared to leave at 8AM this morning, there was zero traffic and you'd already be kicking it at your destination. Even leaving now, while a bit more dicey, is way better than gambling being stranded on the side of the road after a 12hrs in gridlock.
Looks like it shifted south based on my hurricane tracker on MyRadar. This is best case scenario for Tampa bay and the surrounding area. Storm surge on the north side will not be anything like the south side
