Went back and looked at some old messages. I think this will be a new record for a continuous outage in my hood.

Freeze was right at 40 hours (we suffered extra because Centerpoint forgot to flip our circuit or some BS like that).

Storm last June was 46 hours.

We are at 36 now, but I doubt power is back on by tomorrow morning. 9 am will be 48 hours.

19 days for Ike.

5 days for the direcho.

If you're measuring in hours, it's not worth tracking.

Fact that direcho resulted in 5 days outage is comical enough. That storm was a typical May gully washer in DFW when I was a kid.

Dang, and here I've been using the Whataburger map as a proxy for where power is back on.

That map appears to be showing some kind of circuit level data, which doesn't translate directly to meter level data. My circuit is energized on it but their site shows Power Off at my meter still.

That map is out of date. It shows a circuit near me as being assessed when it's on currently and has been for some time.

Wouldn't hold that new map as gospel. Have friends that live in an "energized" area that don't have power...

If you're getting the brown color map you're clicking the step 1 picture. Click the arrow to go to the step 2 picture. Then just click anywhere on the map to zoom in to get to this map. For both maps, if you click the circle in the bottom left you'll get the legend.

But as said and I said in my earlier post. I wouldn't put a lot of stock into this map.

Got home from the office to find … no power. 77494.

But at least I got some AC and was able to charge one of my power bricks.
Also in 77494 and we're still running off Generator. Cinco/Spring Green area has power but we do not. Hoping that changes soon…
I really don't understand the order they're working. We got power this morning but most people directly east of us and directly north of us still have not.

More difficult repairs due to more damage?

Maybe, but these are all fairly new neighborhoods that don't have large trees. I've driven around a lot after the storm passed (trying to find cell signal) and haven't seen any trees on power lines out here. I know it's not always direct damage in the affected neighborhoods, but it just seems odd to me

No. All the streets behind me have power. It dead ends at my street ( my half). No downed lines stopping them. They just don't appear to have gotten to us.

No it wasn't. That storm had 110 mph straight line winds in places. That's equivalent to a cat 3.

That would be helpful if it didn't take so much bandwidth to load any of it when the cell networks are running at AOL speeds.

I really feel for you guys. We were out 84+ hours with the Winter Storm and I worked for a utility company at the time! One thing that you need to do if you notice your neighbors are on is check you main breaker(s) to make sure they did not trip.

Sometimes when you are getting restored the utility will bring power on and take it back off multiple times. This may cause your main breaker to trip due to all of the home load trying to come on at one time. Something simple that may save some of you some heartburn.

*** The normal operation of a distribution system (multi shot reclosers) can cause the breakers to trip also.

Still keeping you guys in our thoughts for whatever good that does.

I know it's petty but is XFinity still going in and out for anyone else? The app/assistant indicated outage earlier but now just tells me to unplug and plug back in every time it goes out.

Couldn't get my generator to come back on so we are at my mother in laws in Rosenberg. She keeps the upstairs at facking 75 degrees which is only marginally better than where we just came from. Cranked it down and the temperature went up to 76 so hopefully it doesn't crap out.

At least according to Centerpoint, we're in the list for "Circuits Assigned for Repair." Whatever TF that means. I'm not holding my breath for anything before Thursday at the earliest.

Sounds like we might be neighbors. I think we're still out in Wood Creek.

We came over to stay at my folks place by the high school. Their power came back on around 5 this afternoon.

It means you are assigned to one of these guys:

Also means "please be prepared to be without power for several days" per the centerpoint text

Power came back on last night and that tracker has my area listed as circuit assigned for repair. So either completely not up to date or I can expect an overnight outage in the next few months to do a post-disaster repair once they get everyone back online

Still out in 77406.

Some in my neighborhood, along with the neighborhood adjacent to us, have power.
