Centerpoint just showed up for the tree leaning on power lines. Any good guesses on how long this would take to fix and restore power?
The Kroger strip center with the Whataburger, Sonic, and Raising Canes at Falcon Landing and Gaston has had power almost the entire time and that is less than a mile from me.mm98 said:

Power still out in Sienna although we are on generator. Internet was working all throughout the storm this morning when we were getting hammered by the eastern eye wall then xfinity went out at 445pm during the calmest part of the day and hasn't been back since. Cell networks completely fooked.
She's in Solea Cinco Ranch Senior Living.
I really feel for you guys who are out. Just a word of advice from a former utility guy. Just because you see them repairing or clearing something close to you does not mean that your power will be restored quickly. There could be damage 2-3 miles away from you that is keeping the distribution circuit down. Conversely, just because you do not see them working close to you does not necessarily mean that your power will not be back soon!
They have to keep these lines down for safety, especially when they start bringing in crews that are from out of town, etc. Was talking to CPS in San Antonio today and they have crews on the way up there as of this morning.
A bright spot for some of you that suffered through the "derecho" outage. They probably cleared a lot of trees that would be causing you problems now and replaced a lot of poles, etc, that were better able to survive this storm.
Good luck, and we will keep you in our thoughts and prayers.

Are phone calls essentially non existent right now? Tenant said they can't make any phone calls at all since this am and that includes phone service at the USCG air station where one of them works. Hard to coordinate SAR when people can't even call in to the air station.
We are in cross creek ranch and other than a blip around 4:30am… we stayed on the entire storm. Many parts of the neighborhood and of course surrounding areas are still out. My only guess is that we ended up part of the grid connected to the newish sherrifs dept. out here and they gave it a bit more redundancy.
Was kind of hoping but not expecting that the neighborhood dive would be open. But it's dark on that side of the zip code too.
Is that El Dorado? I was surprised they left so many trees when they widened that road for this exact reason. Hope they can get it patched up quickly.

Sure seems like a lot of power and cell failure for a Cat 1 storm. I wonder why? Lack of maintenance or tree trimming? Maybe drought weakened trees?

It does seem weird. Went to Costco on 290 for gas for the generator and I really didn't see that much damage. Not sure what's going on in 77429.
Anyway, drove right up to the pump and got gas. No issues
I need to stay pretty close for work reasons but thinking of heading down I-10W or 290 with my pup and seeing which hotels have availability & allow pets

Anyone else using Fidium for internet? Power has been back on here in Katy for a while, but the internet is still down. Kids had to watch a movie on BluRay earlier. Blew their minds lol.
Been a rough few years for CenterPoint as far as public perception. Starting with the freeze.

Everyone I've talked to with Consolidated and Fidium are without internet. They're the same company. I don't know what's going on.
In Fairfield Inwood Park, lights flicked on then off twice and I heard a big hum from outside. Now the alarm power is on, but nothing else. Rest of the street is still out except for dude across the street with a generator. Ooo, look at me with power and outdoor house lights.
