Even though Precinct One Commissioners Rodney Ellis says Hidalgo is "looking forward" to coming back, there has been no date set for her return. In fact, there's been no talk about when she will come back to work. Republican strategist Vald Davidiuk says this is concerning.
"It's deeply troubling. She's not only out of office. She is AWOL," Davidiuk said.

There have been rumors that Hidalgo was going to step down. But as of now she hasn't made that move. But what if she does?

"Somebody would be appointed to that position on an interim basis," Davidiuk stated.

There will be a Special Meeting of Commissioners Court at 10 o'clock this morning.

Anyone know the outcome of the "Special Meeting" besides accolades of bravery and "we will overcome" chants over Comrade Hidalogo?

Yeah. What is Mealer doing other than drawing attention to herself. Lina is best left away for that vote.

My guess is Lina is leveraging her presence for something from the powers that be that want her gone.

Politics is a funny game and they'll settle on something for her so she'll be there to vote.

Hope I'm wrong…

If Ramsey no-shows and Lina is still in rehab, then thr no new revenue tax rate is adopted. This will then become a talking point for the next year except Lina will be at fault.

No way that'll happen, she'll return for the 19th.

There's also extra time built in yo allow for an emergency meeting. The county's fiscal year starts 10/1 but I'm not 100% sure when the tax rate has to be set by. I think a new meeting has to be posted 48hrs before it occurs so there would be time to set the tax rate via an emergency meeting by 9/29.

If the assumed tax rate has to be set by 10/1. And im not 100% certain on that. In fact, I think the year the Rs walked out it went nearly to Nov as the rate can be retro active. She'll eventually turn up.

One could argue Lina has not been fulfilling her elected duties long before she went on her LOA.

The reality is this is local Democratic power play between to parties.

I just want to know why the public should be tolerating an elected official with mental health issues. Sounds like a disqualifying condition. Not to mention that she should be resigning to take care of herself and allowing a more capable person to then serve the people she "cares" so much about.

No surprise she's coming back just in time to make sure the County sticks it to us and increases property taxes. They're proposing the maximum increase without voter approval - way to take care of constituents during high inflation and a recession.
