Well she is most definitely incompetent.
Lina Hidalgo’s “abdominal ailment” JUST BEFORE THE NOVEMBER ELECTION was widely believed in Houston political/media circles to be an anxiety/depression episode. At one point her office claimed “food poisoning”. This happened the day @alexmealer ‘s campaign reported raising a…

surely this has been tried already, no?

unfitness or inability to promptly and properly discharge official duties because of a serious physical or mental defect that did not exist at the time of the officer's election
no she's probable already left the country, she's smart enough to skip town. that's what she did the last timemaroon barchetta said:
Plus eleventy billion internets to anyone that sees her in the background of a Jrey or Carla or Coco photo in Tulum or Dubai or somewhere during her "treatment" and shared that photo here.
This. She knows something is coming and is just getting her victim status set to get out in front of it.Big Al 1992 said:
So your staff was all indicted over a year ago for pretty obvious criminal behavior and you have somehow managed to avoid it - so far - but you still could be indicted and it could be around the corner. I guess that would be depressing.
I'm still not convinced she's smart enough to have been in on that. I think her staff took advantage of her being clueless to (attempt to) get away with a bunch of stuff.Big Al 1992 said:

I also don't think she's smart enough for this master plan people are laying out of playing a victim before a shoe drops....
I think she's just completely incompetent, overwhelmed, and fragile/can't handle adversity.
Probably buying time for her party to identify their chosen replacement to trot out. With the upcoming elections for mayor, DA, etc. they may want to see who doesn't make it through the remainder of this year in certain races.Chewy said:
What does "sent away" mean? She's never coming back/will resign or this is just temporary punishment?
Until she resigns she's still technically the County Judge on a leave of absence.
but you speak so definitively!jrrhouston98 said:
She pissed off Rodney Ellis one too many times. She's being run out of office. Her "depression" will be the cover for when she resigns. Her mental health is more important, etc.
But, don't hold this as the gospel. It's just the scuttlebutt I hear from several people that tend to know things.

Do these asshats really not see the idiocy in what they're saying?
Assume everything they've said is true….our fearless leader is taking a leave of absence and going to rehab because she's depressed and the stress of the job is weighing on her. So likely not in the best mental space.
But, if we have a critical situation/emergency, she'll be fine to come back to work…..
i mean, there should be stand ins designated. if there isn't a plan already they ought to get their s*** together and make one.Booma94 said:
I realize there is nothing brewing in the Atlantic or the Gulf right now, but isn't it even the least bit concerning that the Harris County CEO and main decision maker for emergency management is seeking treatment at an out-of-state facility in the middle of hurricane season? Is the county on auto-pilot if a storm develops over the open ocean?
