Power still out and not expected back on until 5 today. Live near The Woodlands too. Neighbor lost half his fence last night.

It was certainly the heaviest wind I've ever experienced in the Woodlands. I thought for sure a pine tree was coming through my house at some point. Neighbor had a tree split in half onto the driveway. No other damage in my area.

Just fyi the golden triangle suffered some pretty major losses to their lines just a couple of weeks ago and it took entergy much longer than initially expected to get everything up and running. I know this is a Centerpoint thing but just relaying recent experience from the adjacent area.

We're in Klein. Not only did we lose power but our cell service was crap. Anyone else experience that? I was missing the landline days so I could check on my MIL.

Everyone who has ATT is completely out. BF was having trouble sending texts last night around the time the storm hit. It's still down. Neighbor couldn't get service until she went down to 99 and Kuykendahl.

Traveling south on Kuykendahl, 99 is where the power is on (although, neighbor said it went out while she was pumping gas). Everything north of that (on Centerpoint) is out.

CP sent an email at 9:11 last night saying power had been restored. That's the last I heard from them.

I'm using my T-mobile personal hotspot to work from my neighbor's house (she has a generator). T-Mobile is working great.

Still no power in spring. Centerpoint hasn't stopped by yet to even look at the giant tree in my backyard that took out the power lines.

Generac sales about to spike. I know my wife is beating me up over getting one after the last power outage.

Businesses along 99 near Rayford have power, but none of the neighborhoods around it seem to. Thought maybe we had a little spike of power a minute ago, it was here and gone in an instant.

Anyone know what to expect from the county on cleanup? Like if I pile all my branches up by the street do we think someone will be by to pick them up? If I cut my pine tree that fell into 8 foot pieces will they remove that? I'm in the Woodlands.
TXTransplant

Are you in the Township? If so they should handle the cleanup. There is an app you can download to report an issue. It's called My Woodlands.

If you're Woodlands adjacent, you can probably pile it up in your yard and call your trash removal service to do a "bulky pickup" and remove it.

Every trash service i have ever had has had specific requirements for branch pick up like size and securing the bundles and id assume they have that info online.

So I called the Township and they directed me to Montgomery County Precinct 3. They said they may or may not help me out because I already cut up the tree and removed it from the road. I will be furious if they try to tell me they would have removed the entire 100 foot tall pine tree except now that I (along with a bunch of help from my neighbors) cleared the road so my neighbors can get through and leave the neighborhood. They basically said if I move it all back in the street then they will take it. Ridiculous.

Straight line apparently. Absolutely nuts for a thunderstorm.

Oh, man…that's nuts! I have to ask, though…isn't the tree technically still "in the street"? I mean, you didn't pile it all up in your yard, right? I don't why it makes any difference if it lies where it fell or if you stacked it up to clear a path.

Maybe try putting in a service request on the app. That way you don't have to talk to anyone who may or may not be a complete idiot. If worker bees actually make a trip out to your 'hood, I'd like to believe they will actually pick it up. Trick is getting someone to come out.

This person put in the request for me. I am sure some of the tree is still in the road, but I am concerned that the part with the tree trunk is maybe not in the road since we cut it with a chainsaw and then drug the top of the tree over to the side of the ride. I will have to go grab a tow strap and drag it a foot or 2 out into the road to be safe.

We finally got Centerpoint out to our house for the downed tree that took out the power lines in our backyard. Centerpoint guy is convinced it was a tornado. He said he can see a clear path of destruction.

Anyone in your vicinity have a drone to fly? Would be interesting to see.

Silver lining....there was almost no traffic this morning
TXTransplant
How long do you want to ignore this user?
It's good that school is out. Neighbor ventured out to find some WiFi and gas, and she said traffic is a hot mess on Kuykendahl. And the HEB gas station was a mad house.

She also said you can see trees on power lines in the part of our subdivision that is on the west side of Kuykendahl. We are on a different part of the grid, but given the extent of the damage, are preparing ourselves for another night without power.

I've gotten zero updates from Centerpoint today.

I figured that's what you meant. I was just thinking about other ways this has impacted daily routines, for better and worse.

It's a little odd to be stuck with no power, no cell service, no traffic lights, and closures when just a couple miles up the road everything is business as usual.
