Cheapest I see on Stubhub is $180 plus fees and cheapest on OfferUp is $170. I thought my price was fair.

I miss being able to see them for $25 at the Crosby Rodeo or Firehouse.
$15 at Harrys.
$free show in steamboat springs for being too drunk at a musicfest performance.

Turnpike holds the title for 'best show I've ever gone to' and 'worst show I've ever gone to.'

I'll let everyone get some pent up Turnpike out of their system before I spend some serious money on them.

Totally agree with this statement. Saw them in Steamboat when they played outside stage at the base of the mountain, and it was absolutely fantastic. Then i saw them their last show there when Evan was so out of it. Definitely the worst I've been to. Thought he would redeem himself at HLSR, but unfortunately that show sucked too

That base show was because they screwed up so bad Dickson said you're doing a free show at the base or you're gone. HSLR was bad, but I was I so excited (drunk) I didn't really pull it all together that it was a bad show until the next day. I do remember them acting like it was basically band practice and everyone just doing their own easy going thing.

Fun fact. I'm in that video. Had moved into Moses a few hours before that and walked across the street to see that concert. What a great first night in College Starion!

I was in Moses too but didn't like country music back then.

Cody Canada and The Departed are the opening act so should be a great night.
they are the better band

No they aren't. Ragweed in their prime, maybe

I was at A&M when Ragweed was in their prime and saw several of their shows. Saw Turnpike last night for the 3rd time, and TT is loads better, IMO.

A quick recap of last night…crowd was ready. You could feel the energy grow as it got closer to showtime. Evan Felker looked much different on stage…as if he was enjoying playing music again. There were a few times you could see the emotion come over him, but it wasn't a crying emotion. More of what an athlete does when they make a big play. I hope they find the balance they need to keep it going while fulfilling the private things it sounds like they neglected previously.

On the drive home today, my wife asked if they were playing in Houston. Can't make this show, but will the next time they're in town.

Pretty sure they did a live recording at shadow canyon. And many Harry's shows in the early/mid 2000's. Always a good time.

Yes, they did a DVD at Shadow and played Harry's a bunch. Did Chilifest too. Always a great show.

Chilifest 2004…best lineup ever.

Boland
CCR
Pat Green

Headliners:
Sammy Kershaw
George Jones

Ryan Bingham before he got big
Honeybrowne, which was a band I love and still listen to their Real album almost weekly

Okay, so turnpike has had a history of screw ups at Musicfest. One year, turnpike got too drunk and put on a really crappy show at Musicfest. All self inflicted. Dickson, the man who runs the show, demanded Turnpike do a set on the outdoor (free) stage at the base as a mea culpa or they ain't coming back. That show was good.

The last show they played at Musicfest, they got so drunk there was shenanigans about not being able to play songs. Someone threw a potato on stage. It got thrown back (I think?). The basist or felker? Tried to leave the stage and end the set early. Dickson told them to get up and finish. I believe they got booed.

It was a **** show and turnpike put out an apology and temporary hiatus the next day.

Turnpike ain't going to be invited back to Musicfest.

Cross Canadian led a movement that created a new sound. It was on the heels of Pat Green, Cory Morrow, and Roger Creager but Cross Canadian brought an edge to Texas/Red Dirt sound. I joked with friends it was really Cody Canada and some lucky friends. Cody Canada was 80% of that band. Dude is really strong musically but his sound is really similar across all their songs. It's Cody's guitar and vocals and some guys dragging along.

Chewy and I saw CCR at The Firehouse Saloon on a random weeknight around 2000-2001 before they blew up...there were about 19 people at the concert that night.

Not long before that I was at Cactus Records looking for their cd - the staff there had never heard of them.

Was fun to watch them rise.

Felker and Turnpike are much more diverse from a song standpoint. Their lyrics and sound have a much bigger range than Cross Canadian. Felker can write some amazing lyrics along with singing while the band is right behind him.

They're both great but just came along at different times. Turnpike might not have been able to do what Cross Canadian did 20 years ago but here they are.

No matter how you feel this nine minutes at Shadow Canyon in 2003 is an amazing mark in time. These are serious names at one place early in the Texas/Red Dirt movement.

while I agree with much of this don't sell Jeremy Plato short on the ragweed sound. Musically his bass playing drove much of what Ragweed was. He wasn't being drug along by anyone. VERY SOLID musician. Just as strong as Canada.

Ragweed was great in that their timing of what they did was perfect. At the height of the story telling, texas cowboy singing (Pat G, Morrow, Boland, REK) Ragweed was in your face rock n roll with some country sprinkled in.

ANYONE whoever went to a ragweed show left a fan by the time they were done, if they didn't show up one.

Was that Bleu with a Micky & The Motorcars shirt? Dude was in on the ground floor - I don't think M&TM started until 2002.

No idea how I missed that show. What a crazy lineup. Dickson Productions heyday, for sure. I miss the old live music scene in CS, back before every fratty bum with a guitar could get gigs. Any given weekend was Boland, Creager, Ragweed, Reckless Kelly, Stoney, Pat Green, Charlie Robison, etc. Hell, I went to the first Boland show in CS (Shadow Canyon in 2001) and there were 11 of us there when he came out. We all BS'd between songs and when he realized that I actually knew his songs, he pulled me on stage to sing Pearl Snaps with him.

some of the best shows were texas tuesdays at Carney's. $1 beers and super cheap (usually acoustic) shows...that you didn't even have to pay for if you were there drinking early enough.

my only experience with that is seeing him sing karaoke to his own stuff at the cowboy in bryan. top 5 life experience for me.

I completely forgot about those shows. I saw Max Stalling there a time or two.

Fitzwilly's would have some good smaller names play in their outdoor area. I remember randomly walking in and seeing Houston Marchman drinking a beer and setting up.

Crazy. I dropped nearly a grand on 8 GA tickets to see Turnpike at Whitewater in a few months. $15 used to get you into damn near any Dickson Productions show ($12 if you were willing to go to Cavender's and get presale tickets).

Since we're going down memory lane here, what was the name of that venue on eastgate across the street from the university next to the army surplus store? I think it was a Ganter property. Saw a few shows there.

That was the spot a lot of bus drivers would pound beers at until 2am before getting an hour sleep and picking up their 5:30 am shift.

Bourbon St Bar (next to 4.0 and go) always had great shows, and they would be free or no more than $5 cover. Randy Rogers, Wade Bowen, Max Stalling, etc. like others said, very few in there knew their stuff so they would just ask us what song we wanted to hear next. The best was a Cory Morrow/Randy Rogers acoustic song swap, still one of the best shows I've seen.

Wow, that's crazy money for Turnpike. I was able to get all mine at Billy Bob's for well under face on a facebook page specifically for Turnpike tickets. But Billy Bob's had three shows so tickets were slightly easier, but not much.

Does Evan give you a happy ending for that price? Although you can get full service for less than that.

Got two tickets for turnpike at white oak for sale. Bought em from a fellow Ag for 150 but the price is now 250. No low ball offers. I know what I got.

Edit: sorry yall this was meant to be a joke on OP since the price seems to have gone up since I purchased his tickets. Tickets aren't for sale.

I know I'll fry for this but I've never really gotten the intense love of turnpike. I like their music decent enough but I can think of many other singer/bands shows I'd rather go to. Just my opinion and certainly not dismissing any of their fans.

Everyone has their own opinions on music/artists. For me, I got heavily into Turnpike about 10 years ago when I used to go to the lake practically every weekend. There was just something about jamming out to them on the boat while chilling/drinking in the water with friends.
