It's a stupid idea, a waste of money, and going to be an inconvenience. Ultimately, the real concern is that uptick in traffic on the crossroads and 10th/12th where there is far more foot traffic/ residential area. I saw a car booking it down 10th at 40mph and just blow through a stop sign a couple days ago. (I'm sure they had no idea it was there)

Putting down the median at 11th and Yale. It stretches slightly passed Allston. I can no turn turn left (East) onto 11th leaving my house. I have to either go to Rutland or Yale to turn East. Nice job ****tards
I'm going to be in the same boat. I basically have to go south to 10th, then head over to Kroger/Shepard on the road where I will be dodging people who are walking home (or in a motorized wheelchair) with groceries
I won the median lottery and my street will be one of the few without a median at 11th, but the traffic at Shepherd is going to back up far enough that I still won't be able to turn left. I'll be in the same boat as CoachRTM going south to 10th and out to Shepherd.
It is truly amazing how quickly they can do these bike lanes, but they still can't fix the potholes that could swallow a ****ing VW bug...
Combining bike lanes and potholes. I used to do a Sat morning group bike ride. One spot on our route had a giant pothole that never got fixed. One of our riders went out there one night with a sack of quikrete and solved the problem himself! Much better after he was done.Irish 2.0 said:

Which streets between Yale and Shepherd won't have a median? It's going to be fun being right on 11th and not able to turn east.
I believe it's just Dorothy and Allston that will be blocked. Herkimer might have something with the pedestrian island but I can't remember.
The original plan was to run a median all the way down 11th with some streets open but they fortunately scrapped that idea leaving most of it open with no median.

Yesterday around 5:00 PM traffic was backed up from Shepherd to within a couple blocks of Yale.
There's plenty of neighborhood streets to go around it.
And backed up from Yale well past Ashland at about 5:45. I couldn't get onto 11th (heading east) from Ashland. So I went south and turned left/east on 10th to head home. But then got stuck behind a large girl on a bike riding about 5mph in the middle of the damn street. It was glorious. My 7 minute commute took about 20.
