Does anyone know if the names of the dead/injured have been released yet? Is there a number I can call? My friend went and I have been able to reach her.

Finner said that the deaths and injuries were not connected with that entrance being rushed as the crush at the concert had happened much later

At this point how could anyone know what did or didn't contribute to the deaths?

So, thinking now is drug related, not crushing/trampled?

Interesting to see the Twitter responses blaming the event for not having enough security/medical but not blaming the crowd for acting like animals.

Dont worry about that. The crowd will absolutely get blamed to make sure that blame is deflected from the city and county officials that granted the safety permits for this event (assuming a crush like they are saying). However, individuals in a crowd of 50,000 have no control over what happens to them. A crowd needs to be managed correctly not sure how someone involved with this didnt understand that. I can see how the organizers may not have understood that, seeing as how some other "festivals" lately have been managed, but no idea how organizations like Houston and Harris County with as much experience as they have could let this happen.

Yes, I'm surprised when 8 people die at any concert.

How long until Buzbee et al are involved, if they're not already?

This should have probably shut the show down...

...before it led to this...

I feel for anyone that was innocent and got caught up in the fray but this crowd deserves the blame 100%. The city/county/event organizers shouldn't have to have a 1 to 1 security to attendee ratio to ensure that folks act human.

Being reported that a 10yr old was one of the victims.

Why on gods green earth would a 10 year old be at this thing? That is incredibly sad for the kid and incredibly irresponsible of the parents.

I would bet both but bad drugs being the majority cause

I have taken both my kids under 4 to ACL, not sure I'd ever take them to a concert like this just because all the song content is raw, which I love personally but isn't right for my kids yet. I don't see it being a ton different except for the type of music. You can't really blame a "crowd" because what is any person in the crowd supposed to do, this falls on individual bad actors

TMZ has collected the video I've been able to find and I'm actually surprised there hasn't been any more video if they were crowd surfing passed out patrons to the back of the masses. The story of someone going crazy and injecting people with drugs seems a little far-fetched.

7:30 AM PT -- A source connected to Astroworld tells TMZ, someone in the crowd went crazy and began injecting people with some sort of drug, which caused panic and then a surge. The source says authorities are trying to determine if those who went into cardiac arrest were the ones injected. We're told one of those who died is a 10-year-old. The source says it appears to be a targeted attack. We have not confirmed this report, but the source is a key person involved in the festival.

I feel like the only thing that could have been done to help once the crush started was for Scott/event organizers to cut the music, turn on all the lights, and immediately plead with people to back away from the stage. Obviously there were systemic errors leading up to that but I think a fair deal of blame lies at the feet of the organizers/performers who didn't have a plan in place to deal with this type of emergency or refused to implement it if they did have a plan

And videos like this one aren't going to help their cause.

There is no way to know if Travis Scott was looking st the unconscious fan or if he could even see that. Also I've seen people pass out at several shows from small to large over the years and I dont recall the bands stopping their set for it every time.

Good luck with that, they probably would have burned the whole place down if that happened.

"It ain't no mosh pit if ain't no injuries."

Travis Scott shows are very well known for being a rage environment. He's been sued by fans who have been injured, and he's been arrested for inciting a riot during a show. He isn't turning up the lights. If anything, he's encouraging the mayhem.

The drugs aspect of this, particularly if someone was injecting others, is a whole other thing. But the general mayhem environment is what his shows are.

I dont think anyone on stage could necessarily tell there was a crush going on thiugh. It almost certainly didn't look muxh different than any large crowd at a show. In my younger days I went to a bunch of big shows and fests and definitely was in some sketchy spots. That stuff gets sideways quick.

So sad yet I can't say I'm surprised.

Had a bad feeling about this event after seeing all the knuckleheads bum-rush security yesterday online.

Travis Scott, you're ****ed.

I'd imagine he's protected by multiple levels of insurance and business structures that will prevent any personal liability. He's having a second baby with one of the richest women on earth so I'd imagine he'll be fine, and I imagine they will take care of the victims and their families and it will be a blip on their financial ledger but likely will take a toll mentally

Some quotes from social. Take them with the proverbial grain of salt

Quote:

I'm a trained medic. I was doing cpr on a girl as drake came was coming on with Travis. Two "medical staff" came over to help. They were like deer in headlights. They had no ****in clue what they were doing. One of them straight up left; The other "medic" was screaming if anyone else knew CPR. The two that came over had no ambu bag, no gloves, no AED, nothing. I had the girls friend do mouth to mouth while the dumbass medic was just standing there. I'm yelling for an AED, even a damn CPR pocket mask. They eventually get a backboard And start to put her on backwards (feet at the narrow end). I call the guy an idiot and flip it over. Finally we get her on a backboard, cops come over and rip me off her. They pick the backboard up only to drop her on her face. I was so incredibly mad. I watched a girl die in front of me all because these "medics" were so ill prepared. I'd encourage anyone here to open lawsuits against this Cactus Jack/ astroworld bull***** So sad.

I just left astroworld festival and let me say this. as someone who has been to every astro fest there's been, this was completely different. it was awful. I passed out because people were pushing up against me so much that I couldn't breathe. Sam got people to apparently crowd surf my unconscious body to the security guard and I gotcarried to a little section behind GA and put down on a stool thing. when I woke up I had a water bottle in my lap and had no clue what had happened. When I stood up I looked around and people were getting carried out with eyes rolled back into their heads by security, bleeding from their nose and mouth. I yelled "has ANYBODY checked a pulse?" the security guard, frantic, asked me to please help him. I checked two people and one did not have a pulse. I told them I was an ICU nurse and then another security guard, hearing that, said "please come help us." He takes me to the part of the crowd behind GA where I see 3 bodies sprawled out and people who I assume were medics/medical staff doing CPR.I immediately see that there is not enough medics for this so I relieve one medic of CPR. I ask where the ambu bag is, where the AED is, where the stretcher and ambulance is, where tf any **** is and they said essentially there is none. there's one ambu bag, one stretcher and one AED for 3 - now 4 - people who are pulseless and blue. People from the crowd were trying to help. teenagers are doing CPR trying to help but they're doing it incorrectly, then I see there's other people doing CPR on people who still have a pulse bc nobody has done a pulse check. it was an absolute **** show. I lost Sam for I don't even know how long but for the remainder of the concert I was doing compressions, bagging and helping move people to stretchers and checking pulses on new bodies as they got crowd-surfed to where we were. people were trampled, crushed. there was no cell service to call for more help. People were begging the crew operating the stage lights and stuff around us to stop the concert and they wouldn't. I am so disappointed and sad. Finally cops showed up with more stretchers and started getting people out but I know at least 2 individuals had been pulseless for 15 minutes minimum before they got on a stretcher.
