Never realized we had rap snobs that only listen to people if they slang rock on the corner and/or made some bodies turn cold.
Don't mess with Nate Dog, yo.

Clearly more gangster than Travis Scottdrumboy said:
TIL Travis Scott's real name is Jacques Bermon Webster II.
ZFG if he's from the streets, Beastie Boys were rich kids or Parker McCollum is all hat no cattle. All have good music.
Knocks down story that he shared on Saturday that a security guard was injected with a substance. “We did locate that security guard. His story is not consistent with that. He says he was struck in the head, he went unconscious” "He said no one injected drugs in him.”

“Where are we right now? We’re nowhere right now," said the chief.

Houston Police chief says they located the security guard who they initially heard was pricked in the neck — and he says no one injected him. He says he was punched - not injected. It was bad info chief says.

I'd be more surprised if they actually were getting anywhere. The problem is going to turn out to be that these events are inherently unsafe in the right set of circumstances under the current set of safety regulations. Their investigation almost certainly wont lead to "its the governments fault for allowing unsafe events" so they will have to dig up something else. If anything ever does happen in terms of showing what really happened and making changes that makes future events safer, it will likely come from Federal involvement years from now.
I think it kind of sucks for teenagers today who are into music that they don't have all the small venue, all-ages type places some of us had in high school. In places like Fitz or the Vatican, you could be close enough to the crowd energy to get a feel for what you liked (or have fun moshing the pit), but the venues were small enough to get out and go outside in the rare occasion that things were heading in an unfortunate direction.Quote:
I'll admit that as parent with kids who are getting to the ages that they want to go to "real" concerts without us (we haven't let them yet) I am probably a little over invested in this.

Breezed through a lot of this but did anyone mention apparently Travis Scott and Drake had a private party at Dave and Buster's after the show. Apparently it was a bad look they were there considering what happened so they left early.
The bad look for me is they organized a private party at Dave and Buster's in the first place. Couple rappers going private at a giant arcade. Then again, maybe it's totally knowing your audience…
Quote:
Travis Scott attended a party at Dave & Buster's after he performed at his Astroworld festival in Houston on Friday night, unaware that eight people had died and dozens of others had been injured during the concert, sources close to Scott said.

This is what they say when asked specific questions about their own role in providing security at Astroworld.
“What I would do is keep an eye on our Twitter page.”
The Saturday news conference that we were forced to watch was eye-opening. The "leaders" of the county and city leave a lot to be desired.amberag06 said:
This has been my first real introduction to our new police chief and I am not impressed.
This. These venues already had interest in what liability (i.e. insurance) protection these acts had coming into their venue. I saw the promoting company had something like $20-$25 million in total coverage which is going to get more than wiped out so you are going to have the venue and others doling out money as well settling all the lawsuits.Ag_07 said:
A mass casualty event at a concert is a bit more news worthy than a bad wreck across town.
I have no interest in Travis Scott but it's an interesting situation that's garnering national attention. I'd be following along regardless of who was performing.
Not to mention the ramifications this is going to have (justified or not) on concerts and festivals moving forward.
