Does UB get the cash from that or are they paying him to distribute?

I ordered from them on Sunday, and it's too easy. Call when you show up, and they bring it out to you. I should have bought more than two pans.

Looks like they switched to beef for restaurant pickup on the dumplings and the lamburger helper.

I was thinking about this and while it's cool that a world-renowned chef like Chris Shepard has the capacity to distribute to HEB, I'd rather support the small independent guys that could never swing a deal like that

Shepherd seems to do a lot to support the little guys so I have no problem supporting him as well. Local ordering I'm trying to concentrate on the couple of places I like best to hope they survive

The truth is Chris is probably in just as much financial trouble as the smaller guys. Sure he's going into H-E-B, but he's also hiring more people and keeping them paid.

Bottom line...it sucks for all restauranteurs.

Agreed Duncan. We donated to a charity tonight called Houston Meal Shift we discovered on the local news where Hugo Ortega and some other restaurants are preparing and giving away meals for service industry workers who have been laid off in this economic downturn

I'm with you Hville...it's bad all around. This plus $20 oil...it's going to take a long time for the Htown restaurant scene to come back. God Bless all these folks who have lost their jobs. Thanks for your donation!

When these places reopen you can bet we will be there...along with our 8 and 4 year old to wreck shop!

Taco Cabana has a half-off deal for service industry right now.

We ordered and picked up from Crisp in the Heights last night. Awesome food! I sure hope they make it through this.

They also filled our 64 oz growler!

I was in the room here one day... watchin' the Mexican channel on TV. I don't know nothin' about Pele. I'm watchin' what this guy can do with a ball and his feet. Next thing I know, he jumps in the air and flips into a somersault and kicks the ball in - upside down and backwards... the dang (sc) goalie never knew what the hell hit him. Pele gets excited and he rips off his jersey and starts running around the stadium waving it around his head. Everybody's screaming in Spanish. I'

$22 quarts of Tonys margaritas. Good night.

Yeah I picked up 2 quarts and a pound of fajitas the other day for ~$80. Each quart makes about 3.5 good sized margs

That's a hell of a deal, because 2 of their regular sized will get you well on your way to sheeety.

You aren't driving, so why not. That's the one deterrent from me ordering a third when at the restaurant.

Two poor reviews and one good here:

Ultra disappointed in Saint Arnold. Saw a post for a whole chicken and 2 sides with beer. Very underwhelming portions and flavor for walk away with tip bill of $50. Mac-n-cheese is $4 extra (wth)!

El Tiempo on Washington only doing margs and fajitas. Fajitas for 2 was small portion and $48. Do yourself a favor and order from Fajita Pete. $20, better portions, and mushrooms were killer.

On the other hand highly recommend Max's Wine Dive and their special. Dude was super appreciative and hooked it u with 2 desserts for free. He got a fat tip.

Good to hear about Max's, we've been eyeing their pick up menu lately.

And agree about El Tiempo, we were underwhelmed with the portions of meat and rice/beans. They also pushed hard for us to order guac and queso.

Additional info: buddy ordered from Good Dog in the Heights last week, and said the guy was genuinely and overwhelmingly appreciative with him on the phone. I plan to give them a call soon too.

We ordered a pound of El Tiempo fajitas on Sunday with queso and guac. It was good, but not $90 good.

I'm not going to compare them, but I've always liked Fajita Pete's. Thanks for the reminder; I don't live super close to one and had kind of forgotten about it.

Sucks about Saint Arnold. I saw that chicken deal and I was going to get the pizza w/ beer but never got around to it. I did bike there to get a few 6 packs and got cards for two free pints at the beer garden when it opens back up but I had to ask about it since I saw it in an email from them. Did you get that?

I've noticed El Tiempo fajita portions going to shlt over the past couple years and I started going to Pappasitos more when I lived in the dirty branch. Doesn't surprise me that the take out portions are the same. I dropped $100 there the Monday before the shutdown for fajitas, margaritas, and a kids meal or two.

Hard to beat Pappasito's Wed Fajita deal. Half Price mixed fajitas for two. Typically feeds three of us the first night and leaves some for lunches the next day. Not bad for under $40

For those on the west side: Caliente has Fajita's for 4 for $35. It's two pounds of meat (beef or chicken, same price) and easily feeds our family of 5 and we have some leftovers for the next day. Add large queso and extra tortillas and you're out the door for ~$55. I'll put their fajita's up against anyone. They are delicious.

Jesus.....really? Without any margs? That's absurd & also extreme price gouging.....even for their beef filet fajitas.

If anyone runs across any good Easter meals, post 'em up.

Strongly considering the $200 meal for 4 from Underbelly: Slab salad, 8 yeast rolls, 3lb smoked prime rib, Mac & cheese, creamed greens and peach cobbler with cinnamon whipped cream.

3# of meat for 4 people. Sounds like Chris Shepherd's idea of portions.
