Second for Good Dog Houston. My wife said the guy was very appreciative. And the food was really good.

Mala Sichuan in Montrose has been excellent. One of the few places where the food has actually improved with pick up and the people have been extremely nice.

For Mala, did you just do a call in order or is their website set up for this?

Called it in from the menu. Don't miss the dan dan noodle, kung pao chicken, and red oil dumplings.

Wife and I have been craving sushi, but a little nervous about to go sushi. Anyone ordered sushi and had a good experience, any deals out there?

You could literally walk to blue fish, watch them make it, and know it's fresh

How fresh does it really need to be?

You think they keep the dining-in sushi in the freezer and the to-go sushi in the pantry?

Yea, what the others said, go pick it up at your favorite place. To go orders are fine

Not sure of any places down in Rice Military. I'm in the Heights and we enjoyed Hando's takeout

Picked up Uchi last night. Kept the raw orders to a minimum, but quality of everything was excellent. You can schedule a pick up time so they have all your dishes ready at the right time. Has been one of the better pick up experiences.

Also really enjoyed takeout from Hando. Been wanting to give it a shot and will definitely be stopping by when, if ever, all is clear

FWIW, we did blue fish and I wouldn't recommend. If you do, go right away and wait on your food and definitely don't order through a delivery service. We placed our order and were told it'd be 30 minutes. We just went right away as it's right down the street and we want out of the damn house. So we got their about 10 minutes after placing the order and the food was already ready and just sitting on a table. Our food would have potentially been sitting on a table for 20+ minutes. And there were about a dozen other bags of food ready to go. I know 30 minutes at room temp probably isn't a big deal for sushi, but I'd prefer not to be up all night with the ****s and going through my precious and expensive tp

We've done Crave Sushi via UberEats and it was pretty good. Better than I expected.

I picked up from one of my favorite neighborhood joints last night. When she said 10 minutes, I thought "that's really fast for them." Got there and my order was already bagged up alongside some others. I guess business is down enough that they can churn it out pretty fast. But this was a mexican place where I'm sure they just cooked batches all at once and then assemble the combo when ordered.

We picked up Spanish Flowers tonight. Dozen enchiladas with rice and beans for probably 10 people, mega botana app and huge queso - came out to $50 with the 15% discount.

Wanted some BBQ and to support local in the GOOF, so picked up Gabby's last night. I know it isn't on the trendy or cool 'cue list with the brisket hipsters and is wildly inconsistent, but it is family-owned old school and a minute from our house so we wanted to support. Plus, Gatlin's pick-up is as slow as their normal service first available time 2.5 hours out.

It was out-f'ing-standing. Brisket was moist with an awesome pull and bark, pulled pork was tremendous. Maybe with the extra time they are able to baby the smoker more, but it worked. Highly recommend if you are looking for great, good-priced and quick BBQ and don't care if your 'cue cred with the beard crowd is dinged.

Oh hey, we ordered from there yesterday too. Turkey, sausage, and brisket were all pretty solid. Beans were a bit sweet for me, but other sides were good.

Sorry it is after the fact, but the BYG did Smoked dry rub wings 25 for $25 on Thursday night. They were awesome!

They have dinner deals almost every night.
I was in the room here one day... watchin' the Mexican channel on TV. I don't know nothin' about Pele. I'm watchin' what this guy can do with a ball and his feet. Next thing I know, he jumps in the air and flips into a somersault and kicks the ball in - upside down and backwards... the dang (sc) goalie never knew what the hell hit him. Pele gets excited and he rips off his jersey and starts running around the stadium waving it around his head. Everybody's screaming in Spanish. I'

If any of you are in the Kingwood area, follow Kingwood Taco Shop on Instagram. They post dinner specials from time to time, and when they have the tamales, order them early. They're awesome. Not those frozen things you get at most Mexican food places, but made from scratch tamales that they rarely have because of the time it takes. I asked the owner once why they don't have them everyday and he said they simply don't have the time to make enough to meet demand, so they reserve it for special days. Got a dozen today with rice and beans and was $35, IIRC.

I'd like to give a shout out to crawfish in general right now.

Tons of places here off of 1488 with $5 crawfish to go. Makes a relatively cheap crawfish meal - seems like the last few seasons they've been going for $8 per lb.

The one we tried last weekend was Tailgators and they did a fantastic job. Will be trying out a few others.

Don't worry, next year with no lock down they will be back up to $8/lb.

If you are in the Tomball area Captain Brad's has them daily at $3.99/lb

At that price, I will have to bring a cooler. That is a good price. Thanks.

Thanks for the reminder. Greg is a good guy. He was in my Bible study a few years ago and basically sunk everything into that place. Literally everyone gives it 5 star reviews, but I don't know if it will be enough. He doesn't sell alcohol, but you can always get food to go if that's a big deal.

Why do you not think it will be enough? There always seems to be people in there when I go, especially on the weekend for breakfast.

Because it's a tough business. You take a weekend off, somebody forgets to put the lemons out for the tea, 2 yahoos raise a stink on Yelp, and you're clawing your way uphill just because you took your kids fishing.

I look at a national brand like Starbucks, add up the cost of those buildings, employees, benefits, and oh yeah, the coffee...I figure if cars were lined up bumper to bumper and did nothing but hand over $5 bills all day long, it still amazes me that they turn a profit.
