One of my kids teachers tested positive on the 4th. We weren't told about it until 11th and the kids were in class through today.
Health Department finally gets around to calling and so we have to quarantine for 14 days. Not from today, but from the 4th...

Same thing happened to us, but the CDC says only 10 day quarantine. We were notified on the night of the 11th, a Friday, for December 3rd exposure. Quarantine was over Monday. My kid literally didn't miss a day of school. Nonsense.

Not just stupid, but absolutely useless and ineffective when it comes to "stopping the spread".
If the exposure was on the 4th, and you weren't told about it until the 11th, that's 7 days your family could have hypothetically been out spreading the virus.
What's the point of doing "contact tracing" if the contacts aren't notified in a timely manner? I'm sure the Health Dept is overwhelmed right now, but we've been dealing with this for how many months now?
I'm so over hearing "do your part" when the health officials can't even get their act together enough to enable us to "do our part".
And the most recent solution is to ban anyone - including American citizens - from entering the country without a negative test.

Testing numbers fluctuate, and so go the positive #'s, but everything is high in the area at the moment. The slope on the hospitalization curve looks flatter, hopefully its ebbing off.
Hospitalization curve isn't particularly flat. I mean, it does kind of look like a straight line but it is angled in an upwards direction.

The rate of hospitalizations in our region is fairly constant, if not increasing moderately. For whatever reason the state hospital data sometimes has across the board big down days that pop back up to the trendline, even acknowledging the typical Sunday/Monday weekday cycle.
We've actually been fairing decently relative to the rest of the state, even acknowledging we're basically back up to the July levels. Not to say we'll wind up like DFW but they blew through their summer peaks, as have every region north and west of Houston -- where it got colder earlier.
It is what it is at this point. May/June are on the horizon and so is normalcy if the vaccine roll out continues to build momentum.

We aren't quarantining. Had a one of their classmates over today and my parents are coming by on Friday. Everybody is aware and nobody cares.
Anecdotally, through, uh, someone I know, it's slowing a bit over the past couple days...at least where we are. It might be that the people that are going to get it have gotten it at this point and the vaccines might be hitting others.......
